Chapter 529
I whirled around, my gaze locking with Grayson’s dark, predatory eyes.
So naughty, how should I punish you**
I was about to explain that with all the high–ranking sentinels he’d sent to protect me, I couldn’t possibly have been in any danger. My wolf was already preening under his gaze, her tad flickering with a mix of defiance and submissive heat.
But my words were cut off by a fierce, demanding kies.
This kiss was unlike any other we’d shared at mater
There was no tenderness, no lingering sweetness. It was pure Alpha punishment, possessive, brutal, with a devouring force that threatened to consume my soul whole. My wolf let out a sharp, surprised yelp in my mind before melting into the sensation of his dominance
He pried open my lips, plundering my mouth, his fangs grazing my lower lip and giving me no chance to breathe.
Then, suddenly, the intense, unique pheromones of Grayson–cedar, cold rain, and raw power–were all around me, instantly consuming my senses. He kissed me until my head spun, my body weak and pliable like an omega in heat, and I could only cling to his powerful arms to keep from collapsing onto the sanctuary floor.
I didn’t know how long it lasted. It felt like an eternity, like I was about to suffocate from the sheer weight of his aura, before Grayson finally pulled away.
He didn’t move far, his forehead still resting against mine, his hot breath ghosting over my face. I could feel the ridge of his wolf’s muzzle wanting to push through the skin.
My chest still heaved, a frantic rhythm against his, and I could feel the powerful, ragged rise and fall of his own chest.
“Next time you dare to scare me like that,” he rasped, his gaze locked on my kiss–swollen lips, his voice a raw, lupine growl, won’t just be a kiss.” Heat instantly flooded my cheeks, turning them crimson as my wolf did a playful roll in my consciousness.
Meanwhile, at a different Pack Healing Sanctuary….
Grayson Liam Ward lay in the recovery nest, his arm in a plaster cast, whining softly like a wounded pup.
later saw Grayson Liam Ward in the sanctuary. He was sprawled on the bed, his broken arm encased in a thick cast. He grimaced, whimpering constantly from the pain.
Old Mrs. Grayson, predictably, was right there, spewing curses at Faye and me through the mind–link, though her main concern seemed to be the mounting tribute bills for the healers.
Just then, a he–wolf walked into the sanctuary room. He was dressed in a sleek suit, wore gold–rimmed glasses, and carried himself with an air of efined composure that masked a cold scent of hemlock.
The moment Old Mrs. Grayson saw him, she practically shot out of her seat.
What do you want here?” she shrieked, her voice thick with venom. “You promised us a payday! Look what that crazy she–wolf did to my pup!”
The he–wolf in the black suit walked in, placing a glowing Howlnet memory–crystal on his nightstand.
Inside this,” he said, nodding to the crystal, “is complete shadow–evidence of Isabella breaking your arm. Go to the Pack Council, make this whole hing blow up as much as you can. As long as Isabella’s reputation in the Silvermoon Pack is absolutely ruined, I’ll give you a million silver–credits. And Isabella is wealthy; you can demand a hefty sum in compensation from the Miller Pack treasury.”
At the mention of a million silver–credits and compensation, Grayson Liam Ward and Old Mrs. Grayson’s eyes went wide, gleaming with pure greed.
A hefty sum? Old Mrs. Grayson repeated, her voice betraying her avarice. ‘How much exactly?‘ Silver was always her only concern.
The shadow–evidence is airtight. Once the healers‘ report confirms the injuries, she’s looking at a charge of violating the Ancient Wolf Treaties. You Can demand compensation not just for massive sanctuary tributes and lost hunting time, but also for his pain and suffering–and you can even have her Exiled to the rogue lands.”

And I could almost hear her thinking how she’d finally get rid of her daughter–in–law, a she–wolf she’d clearly despised for ages.
The very next morning, I learned, Mrs. Grayson dragged Grayson Liam Ward straight to the Sentinel Post
Nering in the reception room, she wailed, anot and tears streaming down her face.
Sentinel, you have to help us humble wolves! That Isabella, she’s the Luna of Fire Pharmaceuticals‘ She abused her power, seated my pup in broad Laylight! His arm is broken, what about the Sacred Laws? Is there no justice left in this pack?
So the cried, she slammed the Howlnet crystal, supposedly containing the evidence of my assault, onto the stone table.
The Sentinel who greeted them, maintaining an infuriating calm, processed their complaint. They took their statement, accepted the so–called wvidence, and then simply told Grayson Liam Ward, “We’ve noted your report. Please wait here!
Mrs. Grayson, mistaking this for the official start of a trial under the Ancient Wolf Treaties, immediately puffed up with self–imponance. I could practically see her swagger as she followed the Sentinel into an interrogation chamber.
But once inside, the Sentinel just told her to wait, then stepped back out.
The chamber door closed, leaving only her and Grayson Liam Ward behind.
They excitedly started planning how they’d blow all that ‘compensation‘ silver once they got it.
They grew more and more animated, completely oblivious to how quickly time was slipping away in the windowless room

but it wasn’t a Sentinel who walked in. Instead, it was a he–wolf radiating an icy, aristocratic Alpha presence.
lis aura was so commanding, so overwhelming, that as they stared at him, their throats seemed to constrict, their wolves cowering at the back of their ninds. Not a single sound escaped them.
Grayson settled into the seat across from them with an unnerving, unhurried grace. Not a word left his lips, but his gaze alone was enough. Those deep. athomless black eyes were fixed on them, silently dissecting, and I felt their cold, intense scrutiny pierce straight through the heart of their lies.

ust then, Grayson’s mind–link crystal buzzed.
