He seized Emily’s wrist, his grip tight.

“I do not require her! Having you as my sister is sufficient; you can find someone to repair the sky–talon!”

His voice resonated through the Great Hall, but I remained unperturbed.

Before departing, I even selected a sweet treat for the journey, my mood clearly untroubled.

My wolf smirked; their petty drama was amusing.

Jared huffed angrily, dragging Emily away.

His frustration made his grip harsh, leaving her wrist red from his grasp.

Emily was not one to endure such treatment meekly.

Once beyond the Great Hall, she let out a soft whimper.

“Jared, it hurts…“—

Only then did Jared release her hand, noticing her reddened wrist, guilt momentarily piercing his anger.

His wolf whined sympathetically.

I apologize, Emily.”

She offered a sweet smile.

“It is acceptable, Jared.

I understand you are angered by Isabella.”

She observed Jared’s expression, realizing she needed a compelling reason to lure me back, and adopted a hopeful demeanor.

“Jared, you should attempt to persuade Isabella…”

Jared was still seething, grunting.

“Having you as my sister is enough; I require no one else!”

Before, Emily would have reveled in hearing that; she had finally become the sole sister in the Miller family.

But now, her anxious heart longed for my return.

Her wolf mirrored her distress.

“Jared…”

“If you persist in defending her, my anger will intensify!”

She pursed her lips, trailing behind him, her voice soft and hesitant.

Emily was momentarily stunned, her heart racing, struggling to maintain composure to avoid erupting into laughter.

Her wolf was utterly bewildered.

But that amount was woefully insufficient to cover her expenses! She refused to be like me, silently subsidizing her brothers without complaint!

With her head bowed, her face flushed, she looked embarrassed yet conflicted.
