Chapter 64
Bun even as I thought about it, my heart ached a little.
In my past life, I’d diligently managed Jared’s pack, only for Emily to rack up debts by treating other she–wolves to feasts, transferring five hundred thousand from the pack’s treasury.
I tried to explain, but no one believed me; instead, I was wrongfully accused of theft and banished from the pack! My wolf howled in silent rage, remembering the injustice.
I pondered for a moment, logged into the pack’s Howlnet, backed up the accounts, and cleared my access logs.
Jared stared at his communication device, opening the message as soon as it arrived.
Sure enough, it was a reply from that alpha.
This time, the she–wolf didn’t block him directly, which pleasantly surprised him.
However, when his eyes landed on the quoted price, his smile froze, shock morphing into anger!“Two million?! Is the crazy?” His wolf snarled, offended by the audacity.
He immediately handed the device to Emily, pointing at the account ID with a low, furious voice.
“Wasn’t this the ID that scammed you last time?”
Emily took the device, scrutinizing the screen.
She felt a twinge of unease; she didn’t want Jared to investigate this matter; she was afraid he’d discover she had pocketed three hundred thousand.
But as she leaned in to glance at the ID—Ella, she recognized it immediately, only Jared, who didn’t care about me, wouldn’t recognize it.
But recalling my admission of scamming her and taking sixty thousand, she nodded.
She thought Jared would defend her, but he fell into deep thought instead.
He was also looking for that unscrupulous she–wolf; didn’t his pack have anyone else to fix the drones?
“Don’t worry about it; I’ll figure it out later.
Focus on training.”
Emily mistakenly believed Jared had figured out it was me, so she held back her resentment, thinking that the adopted sister wasn’t as good as the true mate.
She glanced at her fingers, swollen from prolonged use, and was about to say she was tired and wanted to rest when Jared walked away.
To Jared, I was just being foolish; when I first practiced with the drones, my fingers were even more swollen, but I didn’t complain, so he didn’t take Emily’s situation seriously.
Frustrated, Emily threw the controller down, playing games.
