Five Alphas Kneel for Me (Isabella) novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Emily lifted her little face, looking at Caleb with a hint of grievance.

CalebHis cold, white gaze from the training grounds fell on her face, making her already pale complexion seem even paler.

She forced a smile, trying to suppress her feelings of hurt, but her eyes shimmered with tears, and her smile faltered.

My wolf sensed her vulnerability, a flicker of empathy passing through me.

Caleb rushed over, wrapping his arms around her and patting her back to comfort her.

It’s okay; you know Jared’s temper; he’s just blunt; don’t take it to heart.

She nodded, her head resting on his chest, murmuring, Okay.

After a while, she lifted her head, striving to maintain a brave facade, blinking her tearfilled eyes as she asked, Caleb, why are you here?

Caleb frowned, his gaze sweeping over the controller tossed aside, then landing on Emily’s slightly trembling fingers.

He sighed softly, concern lacing his voice, The advisor called me, saying that you’ve missed classes recently, and asked if I knew the reason.

Emily lowered her head, forcing a smile.

I’ve been training with the pack, trying to improve my drone skills, so I’ve fallen behind in my studies. Her voice held a mix of helplessness and grievance.

If Isabella could teach me, or sign the attendance sheet, and tutor me at night, I wouldn’t be so stretched thin.

Caleb frowned further.

I had been gone for almost a month; and I wouldn’t apologize or help with small tasks at home; I really wasn’t going back!

His wolf felt a pang of loneliness, a longing for my presence.

Feeling a bit dizzy, he pressed his fingers to his temples.

He had been struggling with severe insomnia, but with my helpcooking calming herbs, making soothing incense, and giving him massages before bedhis sleep had improved significantly.

He’d almost forgotten what insomnia felt like.

But since I left the den nearly a month ago, his onceregulated sleep had gradually deteriorated, and he hadn’t slept for three days.

The scent of his distress was palpable.

Noticing his distress, Emily asked with concern, Caleb, what’s wrong? You look unwell.

Caleb opened his eyes, smiling at her concern.

You are so good.

I’m fine.

Emily, studying and training are important, but if you can’t manage both, just give one up.

A hint of resentment flashed in Emily’s eyes.

She misinterpreted Caleb’s wellmeaning advice as a comparison to me, and her dissatisfaction grew stronger.

Mar

Caleb frowned slightly, noticing something off about Emily’s expression, but upon closer inspection, all he saw was her obedient demeanor.

She said softly, Caleb, I don’t want to disappoint Jared.

I’ll try my best!

Caleb chuckled, ruffling her hair.

“Don’t neglect your studies; the exams are coming.

The mention of exams made Emily’s heart sink.

She’d focused on impressing the Miller brothers, especially to fully replace me in the pack, that she had no time to prepare for the exams!

My wolf felt a pang of satisfaction; karma was a shewolf.
