Chapter 72
I raised my head, coldly meeting Jared’s gaze, not backing down.
“How did you know?”
Jared’s face flashed with impatience, his tone firm.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“It was Emily who told you, right?” I fixed my gaze on Jared.
My she–wolf bristled, sensing the unfairness.
This wasn’t right.
Emily, my pack sister, wouldn’t betray me.
“Don’t drag Emily into this! She’s worried about you; but you’re trying to frame her! The evidence is here; admit
it!”
His wolf’s growl was barely contained.
I laughed sarcastically.
“What evidence? Did you see it?”
My she–wolf snarled inwardly; Jared’s accusation felt like a violation.
He was speechless, his expression awkward.
He gritted his teeth, trying to regain his authority.
“The Pack Elder must have evidence!”
“Perfect, I want to see what this evidence is.”
A magnetic, playful voice cut through the silence, attracting everyone’s attention.
Everyone turned in unison to see Grayson sauntering in, slightly out of breath, his phoenix eyes still exuding a nonchalant elegance.
His scent, a mix of woodsmoke and sun–warmed earth, filled the air, instantly calming my agitated she–wolf.
He wore a casually open white jacket over a black T-shirt, his skin appearing even paler.
With his hands in his pockets, he radiated a lazy yet dangerous aura, like a lion just waking up, elegance hiding its
sharpness.
His wolf, powerful and confident, pulsed beneath the surface.
I looked into his deep black eyes.
Even though I wasn’t afraid, I felt calmer seeing him.

My she–wolf leaned into the strength I felt emanating from him.
Mena
Jared’s face darkened; Grayson’s arrival was like throwing gasoline on a fire, making the already tense atmosphere even more charged.
The tension was palpable, even to my wolf.
The nobility on Grayson’s face vanished as he walked in nervously, suddenly crouching down in front of me, reaching for my injured calf.
“What happened?” His voice was icy, freezing the room.
His wolf’s concern was evident in the intensity of his gaze.
He glanced at the shards on the floor, quickly deducing the direction from which the object had struck my leg.
His wolf worked quickly, piecing together the scene.
Then he turned to face the Pack Elder.
The Pack Elder instinctively recoiled from him, gripping the armrests of his chair and leaning back.
The Elder’s wolf sensed the alpha presence of Grayson.
“Grayson, the clothes you bought for me are torn.”
Grayson responded indulgently.
T’ll buy you new ones.”
His wolf rumbled softly, a promise of protection.
Hearing his kind words, I suddenly felt a wave of grievance wash over me.
My she–wolf whimpered softly, seeking comfort.
I even learned to complain.
“We clearly have a pure sibling bond, he’s slandering us.” I’d never done that to my brothers before.
My she–wolf felt the shift in my usual behavior, a vulnerability she wasn’t used to.
Grayson found it both amusing and infuriating; he stood up and ruffled my hair.
“I’ve got your back.” His wolf’s reassurance was solid and comforting.
After saying that, Grayson turned to the Pack Elder, who shifted back again.
Grayson pulled out two chairs, placing them in front of the Pack Elder, one for me, one for himself.
At over six feet tall, he looked a bit cramped sitting on a regular chair, his long legs slightly curled up, exuding a lazy yet flamboyant aura.
He tilted his head, a playful glint in his eyes, a mocking smirk.
‘I’d like to see what this so–called evidence is, how ‘ironclad‘ it really is.” His wolf was amused by the challenge.

The Pack Elder’s expression also turned sour.
“Who are you?”
Grayson pointed at me, a playful glint in his eyes, a cheeky smile on his lips, asserting.
“I’m her mate.” The Alpha’s claim resonated through the room, solidifying his position.
The Pack Elder looked at Jared; he knew Jared was my brother.
But who was this formidable man?
“Why are you looking at him? I’m Isabella’s brother; I make the decisions regarding her.”
