Chapter 71
The cup
shattered at my feet.
I wore a skirt; the thin leggings offered little protection.
Shards flew out, slicing my leg.
Blood bloomed across the wound, staining the floor crimson.
Your grades were poor before, but at least you were practical.
Look at you now! What are you wearing? Trying to seduce someone? Your ‘brother‘? You dress up shows you kindness; what a disgrace!”
I raised my gaze, my eyes cold and unwavering.
“As Pack Elder, you’re a senior teacher; you shouldn’t speak to pups like that.
You definitely shouldn’t insult a pup and her pack bonds!”
They could criticize me, but not Grayson!
The commotion attracted attention.
Emily leaned against the wall, a triumphant gleam in her eyes.
Even if the cheating accusation failed, everyone would know I’d been accused.
Rumors spread like wildfire; clearing my name would be impossible!
Suddenly, she spotted Jared approaching, questioning others about
my
whereabouts.
“Do you know where Isabella is?”
Her lips tightened; he was here to appease me!
Her friend recognized him.
“Emily, isn’t that your fourth brother? He’s looking for Isabella? Didn’t she leave home? Is he trying to bring her back? She’s his biological sister…”
“Shut up!” Emily hissed, then quickly corrected herself.
“Sorry, I’m not mad at you; I’m just in a bad mood.”
She adopted a worried expression, rushing towards Jared.
“Jared, it’s bad!” Her brow furrowed, her tone anxious.
“Isabella cheated to win the bet and got caught; she’s in the Pack Elder’s den.”
Jared’s face turned white with rage.
“What did you say?”

His fist clenched, rage consuming him.
How could she do this? He recalled Grayson’s forced bet.
A fire ignited in his chest as he strode toward the den.
The door swung open violently, Jared’s footsteps echoing in the silent room.
His gaze was sharp, fixed on me.

“Isabella, you’ve really gotten bold; you cheated to win!” His voice was low and forceful, the rumble of an angry alpha.
I lifted my head, calm and unflinching, my eyes betraying no emotion.
I looked at Jared as if his fury was irrelevant.
“I didn’t cheat,” my voice was soft yet firm.
My wolf felt a surge of defiance.
“Didn’t cheat?” He scoffed, skeptical.
“Then why are you here?”
I didn’t answer, merely staring at him with cold indifference.
I wasn’t surprised; after everything, he doubted me without question, jumping to conclusions.
After all, in my past life, he’d done this countless times.
As long as Emily spoke, he believed her..
My wolf whimpered at the familiar betrayal.
Jared’s anger flared at my cold gaze.
He turned away, kicking a nearby chair, the sound echoing the turmoil within him.
“What’s that look? Grayson whispers sweet nothings, and you eagerly become his pawn, cheating to beat me? Isabella, you’re really something!
Bought off by Grayson, and you’re still counting his silver!” His wolf was a tempest of confusion and hurt.
