Chapter 75
I smiled faintly, confidence glinting in my eyes.
Turning to Grayson, I called softly, “Grayson.” My face was flushed.
“I did it.” My she–wolf felt a surge of pride and relief.
Grayson reached up and ruffled my hair affectionately.
Jared’s eyes bulged comically, his jaw hanging slack as if about to hit the floor.
“Impossible!” He shot up from his chair, the legs screeching against the floor.
“Her grades were never this good!” His wolf was in disbelief.
Grayson raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on his lips.
“Jared, have you forgotten how Isabella scored on the entrance exam when she entered North University pack?” His wolf subtly challenged Jared’s claim.
–
The words struck Jared like a physical blow, memories flooding back – my exceptional entrance exam results that could’ve secured me a spot in the prestigious Silver Moon pack, but I had chosen Northwood pack because of family ties.
His wolf recoiled, shame and guilt washing over him.
He opened his mouth, but no sound came out.
Grayson’s sharp gaze swept the room.
“Remember, you have three days.
You must apologize to my mate publicly.” His alpha presence commanded attention.
His wolf issued a final warning.
Rising calmly, I glanced at Grayson in mild surprise – he’d actually remembered my entrance exam scores.
As I moved toward him, his hand came up to smooth my hair again, the gesture carrying unexpected tenderness.
His wolf’s protective instinct was evident.
“Let’s
go home and celebrate your exam.” He put his arm around me; we left the office.
His wolf radiated happiness and pride.
We nearly collided with Emily loitering by the door.
His glacial stare sent her stumbling back against the wall, face blanching.
His wolf’s alpha dominance asserted itself.
Without breaking stride, he guided me forward.

Let’s go, Isabella.”
Left alone, Emily stared after us with complicated emotions.
She wanted a mate like Grayson.
Jared came out, his face grim.
Emily immediately put on a concerned expression, running to him.
Jared, how is Isabella?”
He ignored her, walking away.
She followed.
“Jared, don’t worry about Isabella.
Whatever she did was to get your attention; don’t blame her…”
Jared halted abruptly.
“She’s innocent.”
His wolf finally accepted the truth.
He left, leaving her alone; Emily’s smile vanished; she bit her lip.
She looked towards the office, unable to see Bob.
She stomped her foot.

Grayson must have supported me, angering Jared; that was why he said I was innocent! Bob wouldn’t betray her!
“Jared! Wait for me!” she chased after him.
The exam results were released.
Everyone was busy checking their scores, preparing to go home for the Moonlit Howl festival.
Emily’s face was grim; she barely passed; her scores were far below expectations.
The pack member she hired was just average! Her wolf felt
a pang
of disappointment.
