Chapter 81
Grayson walked towards us, his dark eyes dangerous, accentuating his handsome features.
A cold smile played on his lips.
His wolf’s power was unmistakable.
“You dared to strike my sister on my territory? Are you tired of living?” His lazy voice held a dangerous undercurrent; the air grew frigid, raising goosebumps on my arms.
My she–wolf felt a thrill of excitement and fear.
Jared grimaced, pain twisting his face.
His jaw clenched.
“Grayson, this is a family matter!”
Grayson raised an eyebrow, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips as he stroked his chin.
“Isabella is my mate now.
She doesn’t have family members who resort to violence.” His tone was light, but his eyes were icy.
His wolf was clearly warning them.
Several imposing pack enforcers appeared, surrounding the three of them.
Emily rushed to shield Jared, teary eyes darting to me.
“Isabella, Jared acted impulsively to protect me.
He’s already hurt; must you be so heartless?” Her words were a mask; smugness about Jared’s devotion reeked
beneath the surface.
Her she–wolf was clearly manipulating the situation.
Jared fell for it, believing Emily’s feigned concern and viewing me as
the
aggressor.
I remained unmoved, calmly setting down my claws.
“Was my brother wrong? He wanted to strike me; and my brother retaliated; is that a problem? Should I cherish ‘family bonds‘ that condone violence against me?” I smirked at Emily.
My she–wolf felt no remorse.
Caleb frowned.
“Isabella, why are you so sharp? Why can’t you be obedient and gentle like Emily?”
A humorless laugh escaped me.
Hadn’t I been obedient and gentle in my past life? I’d sacrificed everything for family demands.

But what was my reward? Obedience? Let someone else play the docile lamb! My she–wolf growled.
I stood and walked lightly towards Emily.
They tensed, instinctively moving to protect her.
Grayson stood beside me, hands in his pockets, his sharp eyes like a hawk, providing an unshakeable sense of
security.
His wolf radiated power.
Jared, seeing this, burned with urgency, wanting to intervene.
But the moment he moved, pain shot through his injured leg, making him gasp.
His wolf whimpered in pain and frustration.
He gritted his teeth, fury blazing in his eyes.
“What are you doing? Dare you touch Emily?!”
A knowing smile crept onto my lips.
Suddenly, I raised my hand and delivered a sharp slap to Emily’s face.
“Slap!” The sound echoed, stunning everyone.
My she–wolf felt a surge of triumphant satisfaction.
“You!” Emily screamed, covering her stinging cheek, disbelief etched on her face.
“Isabella!” Caleb and Jared shouted in unison, charging at me.
But before they could reach me, the enforcers held them back firmly.
Their wolves snarled in frustration.
Watching Caleb and Jared unable to protect her, Emily’s expression shifted from hurt to pure rage.
She glared at me, as if she could kill me with her eyes.
Her she–wolf was furious.
I calmly reminded her, “Remember your persona, the obedient and gentle Emily.”
My she–wolf savored the moment.
Those words hit her like a sledgehammer, causing her carefully constructed facade to crack.
She quickly switched to a look of feigned innocence.
Her she–wolf’s attempt at manipulation was transparent.
