Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 207

"Grace, if the Hart family really did force you to do something, you have to tell me."

"I will make them pay."

Damien's eyes were sharp and murderous.

Grace was just too soft-hearted. She gave them too many chances, which was why those people kept running wild.

Grace looked at Damien, and a warmth spread through her, tinged with a bitter sadness.

She shook her head.

"I wasn't forced. I did it willingly."

"Willingly?"

Damien's brow furrowed.

"Grace, have you forgotten how Lucian beat you?"

"Have you forgotten where those injuries came from?"

"A man like that doesn't deserve your pity!"

"I know."

Grace's voice was soft, laced with a sense of helplessness.

"I want to skin him alive."

"But Damien... my grandmother had a stroke."

"If I didn't sign the statement, Alistair Hart wouldn't tell me where my grandparents are."

"They're the only family I have left in this world."

"I can't gamble with their lives."

As Grace spoke, tears began to fall again.

All these years, she hadn't visited her grandparents.

While it was true that her father had restricted her at first, later, when she had the means, she was too busy with work and never went looking for them.

It was her own negligence.

And in doing so, she had unwittingly given Mr. Hart an opening.

"You think I'm useless too, don't you?"

"To be bullied like this and still have to compromise for the sake of family."

"But I really had no choice..."

Seeing her in such pain pained Damien deeply.

He understood that feeling all too well.

He sighed and wrapped his arms around Grace, pulling her into his embrace.

"Silly girl, who said you were useless?"

"You're the most loyal, sentimental fool in the world."

Damien's voice softened.

"If it was for your grandparents, then let it be."

"It's just one Lucian. If he's released, he's released."

"But..." Damien's tone shifted. "Who said being released means he gets to live a good life?"

He picked up the card and tossed it into a nearby trash can.

"Don't dirty your hands. Your husband will give you something better."

With that, Damien swept Grace up into his arms.

"Ah!"

Grace gasped, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck.

"What are you doing?"

"Upstairs. Bath, then bed."

Damien carried her towards the stairs, his steps steady.

"Forget about all the unpleasant things."

"From now on, your world will only have me in it."

"As for your grandparents..."

Damien paused, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

"I'll have Felix look into it tomorrow."

"If Alistair Hart was really behind this, I'll make him pay back what he owes your grandfather, with interest."

"And if your grandmother is really sick, we'll bring them both here."

"Your husband can afford to take care of them."

Resting against Damien's chest, Grace felt the heavy weight on her shoulders finally lift.
