Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 235

The rain stopped as dawn broke.

The sky over Jarrow City was a brilliant, freshly washed blue.

Damien woke up with a slight headache.

He had stayed up late looking after his grandmother and dealing with some urgent company emails.

He instinctively reached for the space beside him in the bed.

Empty.

He opened his eyes and remembered this was the old Clarke family estate, not the courtyard house.

Damien sat up, rubbing his temples.

A smile unconsciously touched his lips.

It had only been one night apart. How could he already feel so unused to it?

Was this what they meant by 'absence makes the heart fonder'?

He picked up his phone, wanting to call Grace.

He glanced at the time. It was only eight in the morning.

He decided against it. Better let her sleep in.

She must have been exhausted after taking care of her grandmother these past few days.

In a good mood, Damien washed up and went downstairs.

Marianne was at the dining table eating oatmeal. When she saw Damien, she put down her spoon.

"Damien, you're up early?"

"Yeah, I have things to do at the office."

Damien pulled out a chair and sat down. A servant immediately brought him breakfast.

"How's Grandma?"

"Much better. It's an old ailment. She just needs some medicine and rest."

Marianne looked at the dark circles under her stepson's eyes, feeling a pang of sympathy.

"Don't push yourself too hard. Your health is important."

"I'm fine."

Damien took a sip of coffee, his eyes clear and bright.

"I want to wrap things up quickly so I can take a vacation."

"A vacation?"

Marianne was surprised.

Damien was a notorious workaholic who almost never took a day off.

"Mhm."

Damien nodded, his gaze softening.

"I want to take Grace on a honeymoon. And I want to give her a proper wedding."

"The best wedding."

Marianne couldn't help but smile at the sight of him.

It was like hell had frozen over.

Everyone guessed that the CEO's wife must be some kind of enchantress.

How else could she have charmed this tyrant into submission?

Damien was indeed eager to get home.

He had been delayed in the Aurelian Reach for a month, and the work had piled up like a mountain.

But he was incredibly efficient.

He managed to sign off on documents that would normally take two days in a single day.

Because he wanted to go home early. He wanted to eat a meal cooked by Grace.

He wanted to hold her and hear her whisper his name, "Damien."

At five in the afternoon, Damien closed the last file.

"Felix, get the car ready."

"Yes, sir!"

"We're making a stop at Brilliance Jewelers."

Damien said as he put on his jacket.

"Huh? Mr. Clarke, are you buying more jewelry?"

Felix was astonished.

Hadn't he just given her a pink diamond necklace a short while ago?
