Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 429

“These legs… I owed them to you.”

“Now I’ve paid you back. Are we… even?”

Hearing those words, Grace felt the words like a physical blow, a sharp ache radiating through her chest until it was hard to breathe.

Had she hated Dorian? Yes. She hated his indifference, hated how he helped the wicked.

But now, as he paid for it with his own body, all that hatred seemed to have drained away with his blood.

She reached out and gently took his bandaged hand—the same hand that hadn’t yielded even when his fingernails were being pulled out.

“Dorian.”

Grace’s voice was soft but firm.

“I forgive you.”

Just three simple words.

Dorian’s tears broke free.

This grown man, covering his face, sobbed like a child on the hospital bed.

“I’m sorry… Grace… I’m so sorry…”

The apology, five years late, had finally been spoken.

Damien stood outside the door, watching the scene through the glass panel.

“Mr. Clarke.”

Felix hurried over, speaking in a low voice. “We have news from Melissa. The Butcher talked.”

Damien’s eyes turned cold as he turned and strode away.

Damien’s fists clenched. Though he had long suspected Alistair Hart was a piece of work, hearing the confirmed truth was still sickening.

“However…” The Butcher’s tone shifted. “Lauren Hawke had already found out.”

“What?” The teacup in Melissa’s hand trembled slightly.

“Lauren Hawke was a genius. How could she not discover her own husband’s betrayal?” the Butcher recalled. “When she found the listening devices, she didn’t expose him. Instead, she took the initiative and contacted the leader of The Shepherd at the time.”

“She said she was willing to hand over the complete gene key in exchange for her daughter’s lifelong safety.”

A jolt went through Damien.

“Then why did she still die?” Damien asked.

“Because the leader was greedy,” the Butcher sneered. “After getting the key, he demanded that Lauren Hawke kill herself to eliminate any future trouble. She refused. She realized we would never spare her child, so she destroyed the key she had given him and… initiated a counter-protocol.”

“In retaliation, we increased the dosage of the toxin. That’s what caused her to hemorrhage during labor and ultimately die.”
