Sabrina slammed the phone down on the coffee table.
“What damn scientist! I say she’s just a jinx who knows how to get attention!”
“The moment she comes back, she turns the whole house upside down and makes headlines, completely humiliating the Hart family!”
In her mind, Grace deserved to be divorced and accused of plagiarism.
But now, Grace had somehow managed to turn things around!
How could this be!
That little brat was supposed to be trampled in the mud for the rest of her life, never to rise again!
“Our Lilian is the most thoughtful and considerate one. She never causes any trouble for the family,” Sabrina said, hugging her daughter with pride.
Lilian lowered her eyes, hiding the smug look in them, but her voice remained soft and weak.
“Mom, don’t say that about Grace... Actually, I’m happy for her. It’s just... Ethan seems to be very cold to me because of this...”
At the mention of Ethan, Sabrina’s nerves instantly tensed.
“What? Ethan is giving you the cold shoulder because of that little brat?”
“Mhm...” Lilian nodded, tears welling up on cue. “He even postponed our wedding... He said he needs some time to think.”
Sabrina was instantly consumed by rage.
“Unbelievable! That Grace is a jinx while she’s here and a curse even after she’s gone! She’s been thrown out, yet she still finds a way to ruin our Lilian’s happiness!”
Looking at her daughter’s tear-streaked face, a ruthless thought took root in her mind.
No.
She couldn’t let Grace remain a threat, an eyesore in Jarrow City.
She had to find a way to get rid of her for good.

A few days later, Grace found some time to return to the Hart mansion.
Her mother’s belongings were still stored in an old chest in the attic.
Sabrina’s shrill voice rang out from behind her.
“I’m talking to you. Are you deaf?”
Grace stopped but didn’t turn around.
Sabrina’s heels clicked across the floor as she strode in front of Grace, her arms crossed and her chin held high.
“A divorced woman, not even living in her own home. What does it look like for you to be crashing at a friend’s place? If word gets out, what will happen to the Hart family’s reputation?”
“You could at least try to pull yourself together. You’re dressed like a beggar. Don’t bring your bad luck back into this house!”
In the past, Grace would have trembled with anger and argued with her.
But now, she felt nothing. Not a single ripple of emotion.
She simply looked at Sabrina, her gaze as calm as if she were observing a stranger throwing a tantrum.
This feeling of being ignored only infuriated Sabrina more.
“What are you looking at! Am I wrong? Your mother couldn’t even manage to stay alive, and she gave birth to a troublemaker like you! You do nothing but cause problems for this family! And now you think you’ve grown wings? You won’t even listen to your elders anymore?”
