Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 432

Damien returned with the chip to his top-floor office at the Clarke family headquarters.

The office was equipped with the highest-level shielding system and the most advanced computers.

The chip was inserted into the reader.

Instantly, countless complex data streams flooded the large screen, scrolling down like a green waterfall.

“Oh my god…” Melissa pushed her glasses up her nose, her usually calm voice trembling. “Lauren Hawke… she was a madwoman, but she was also a genius.”

“What do you mean?” Damien toyed with a lighter, his brow furrowed.

Grace stood to the side, a storm of emotions churning within her as she watched the screen.

“This isn’t just a genetic key,” Melissa said, turning to Grace with a grave expression. “This is a ‘key.’ It can activate the dormant ‘Dawn Gene’ within your body.”

“Simply put,” Melissa brought up a simulation of the human body, “once fused, your cognitive potential will break all human limits. You will possess enhanced intuition, a photographic memory, and even… a degree of telepathy.”

Damien froze.

“And the side effects?” he asked, cutting straight to the point. “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”

Melissa paused for a moment before holding up three fingers.

“First, the fusion process is excruciatingly painful, equivalent to having every bone in your body shattered and reset. Historically, many don’t survive the procedure. It’s a gamble with death, Grace.”

“Second, once activated, you become a living beacon. Nemesis Group Inc.’s trackers will be locked onto you forever. You will never have a moment of peace for the rest of your life.”

“No.”

Without a second thought, Damien slammed the lighter on the table. “Destroy this thing. My woman doesn’t need to be some superhero. I can provide for her, and I can protect her.”

“I’ll do it.”

Grace’s cool voice broke the silence.

“What did you say?” Damien turned, his eyes wide with disbelief. “Grace, have you lost your mind? The odds of surviving that are terrifyingly low! You’re gambling with your life!”

“I’ll die if I don’t gamble anyway,” Grace said, looking up. Her eyes, once timid and tear-filled, now shone with a frightening light. “Damien, Nemesis Group Inc. will never let me go. Instead of hiding behind you like a helpless target, I’d rather have the power to fight back myself.”

“I don’t agree!” Damien grabbed her shoulders. “I told you I would protect you! I can keep you safe, even if it means sacrificing the entire Clarke family!”

“And what about Dorian?” Grace shot back. “What about Grandma? And you… Damien, for my sake, you’re already going up against the entire consortium. I don’t want to see you lying in a pool of blood one day, just like Dorian.”

Damien was stunned.

“I’m tired of feeling powerless.” Grace gently pushed his hands away and walked over to Melissa, her gaze firm.
