"The defendant, Nemesis Group, in order to cover up their crimes, subjected me to years of slander and even attempted to silence me permanently."
Grace turned and pointed at Graham Walters in the defendant's dock.
"Mr. Walters, do you have anything else to say?"
Graham Walters' arrogant expression finally crumbled.
He slumped in his chair, drenched in a cold sweat.
He never imagined that Grace and Damien would be able to get their hands on this material.
The betrayal from The Shepherd was something he had never seen coming.
"Your Honor, I..." Graham Walters began to stammer. "I was just following orders! This all came from headquarters! I was forced!"
"You can tell the judge whether you were forced or not from your prison cell," Damien sneered from the gallery.
The court finally delivered its verdict.
The regional branch of Nemesis Group was found guilty of multiple charges, including crimes against humanity, intentional homicide, and unlawful imprisonment.
Graham Walters was sentenced to life in prison. Nemesis Group faced astronomical fines and was ordered to cease all related operations in the country.
As for their European headquarters... since it involved international jurisdiction, the Jarrow City court had no authority to rule directly against them.
The moment the gavel fell.
Grace felt a heavy weight finally lift from her shoulders.
She turned and looked toward the gallery.
Cassian had already slipped away during the commotion, scurrying off like a rat.
Only Damien stood there, watching her with a smile, his arms open wide.
"Grace, let's go home."
Grace's eyes stung with tears, and she ran into his warm embrace.
"Damien, I did it."
"I know." Damien held her tightly, placing a kiss on the crown of her head. "You're the best."
As Grace and Damien walked out of the courthouse, countless reporters swarmed them.
Ethan, the man who had once treated her as worthless, watched from a distance with red-rimmed eyes. He seemed to want to rush over, but a single glare from Damien made him shrink back.
"What are you looking at?" Grace asked.
Damien was unconcerned.
"Do I look like I'm kidding?"
He turned to look at Grace, who was sitting beside him drinking her tonic.
The mixture was bitter, and Grace's brow furrowed as she drank, but she didn't make a sound.
Damien pulled a small candy from his pocket, unwrapped it, and held it to her lips.
"To sweeten it."
Grace took the candy, and the bitter taste in her mouth faded. She looked at Felix.
"Felix, Nemesis Group isn't invincible in Europe. They've swallowed up a lot of old-family businesses to expand over the years. I've had someone look into those families, and they've been itching for revenge against Nemesis Group for a long time."
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
"I've compiled a list of victims whose families were ruined by Nemesis Group over the last decade. One of them is an heir to a branch of the old-money Rothschild family."
Felix opened the list and saw the names on it, sucking in a sharp breath.
This wasn't just a list. This was a roster for the Avengers.
