If Grace Hart knew the extent of the damage, she would absolutely shatter.
That was exactly why Damien Clarke had clamped down on the information, forbidding even Ivy Dawson from breathing a word.
"Mr. Clarke."
Felix pushed open the office door, his expression grim. "We found the connection. The call Serena Shum made was traced back to 'Mr. K' in Europe."
"Mr. K?"
Damien's eyes narrowed. "The so-called emperor of the European underground?"
"Exactly."
Felix tossed a dossier onto the desk. "He's the reason Julian Leung is acting so bold. Rumor has it that Mr. K holds blackmail material on half the politicians in Europe. But we still haven't figured out why Julian is so terrified of him."
Damien let out a cold scoff. "No wonder Serena felt so untouchable."
"So what's our move?" Felix asked, clearly anxious. "If Mr. K is personally intervening, our European projects are going to..."
"Let him try."
Damien turned around, his gaze predatory. "A king in his own castle is just a tourist here. This is Carden, not his playground."
Despite his confident words, Damien knew this was an absolute nightmare to handle.
Unless he severed the alliance between Julian and Mr. K, the threat to Graceline Technologies would never truly end.
It didn't make any sense.
Grace had grown up in Jarrow City. How could she possibly have crossed paths with a European crime lord?
Unless...
A sudden realization hit him.
Lottie Grant!
Grace's twin sister had been raised in Sorentia!
Was this fallout from Lottie?
Damien immediately strode to his safe and pulled out a small black notebook.
It was the one Lottie had left behind before she returned to Sorentia.
There was only a single name and phone number jotted inside.
—Dr. Serrano.
"My identity is irrelevant."
The man's tone was infuriatingly relaxed. "What matters is that Lottie gave you this number, which means things have hit the fan. Spit it out. What stupid stunt did that piece of trash Julian Leung pull this time?"
That piece of trash Julian Leung?
There were very few people on earth who would dare dismiss Julian like that.
Damien was internally reeling, but he kept his voice steady. "Julian partnered with Mr. K. They're launching a full-scale assault on Graceline Technologies."
"Mr. K?"
A burst of mocking laughter echoed through the speaker. "You mean that overweight mobster who built his empire hawking forged art? God, Julian really is losing his touch."
Damien stared at the wall, momentarily speechless.
A mobster selling forged art?
"Alright, I get the picture."
Dr. Serrano sounded utterly bored. "Tell my dear Grace she has nothing to worry about. That fat bastard still owes me a leg. I'll have someone look into it."
The line went dead.
