Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 548

Grace sat in the chair, her hands gripping the file folder, her expression distant.

She couldn't wrap her head around it.

If they had become so close back then, why had they suddenly parted ways, and why had her mother abruptly married Alistair Hart?

And what did that accident... have to do with any of it?

"Mr. Zollinger," Grace looked up, her voice pleading. "Please, tell me the truth... I need to know what my mother actually went through."

Quentin sighed.

"Child, sometimes ignorance is bliss." The older man looked at her with eyes full of pity. "Your mother was a proud woman. If she were alive, she would never want you to see this."

"But I don't want to live in the dark anymore." Grace smiled bitterly, shifting her gaze to the window. "I've had my blood drawn against my will, had my leg broken, been cursed at as a jinx by my biological father, and betrayed by my family."

"The family members who genuinely loved me? One died the moment I was born, and the other just left me. There's someone else out there who shares my blood, yet we're separated by nearly thirty years of distance."

Grace swallowed hard and looked back at him.

"I've spent half my life living like a joke. If I can't even figure out what kind of person my own mother was, then my entire existence really is nothing but a punchline."

Damien's heart ached.

Standing behind Grace, he pulled her into a gentle, grounding embrace.

"Tell us," Damien said, looking at Quentin. His tone was respectful, yet it carried an undeniable edge of authority. "Mr. Zollinger, Grace has a right to know. No matter what happened back then, please tell her the unvarnished truth."
