Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 98

When he saw her growing tired from standing in high heels, he subtly guided her to a sofa in the lounge area.

The air conditioning was a bit chilly, so he immediately had someone bring a shawl and personally draped it over her shoulders.

His eyes never left Grace for a single moment.

It was the look of a man who cherished someone down to his very soul.

Dorian raised his glass from afar, in their direction, and took a small sip.

The stone that had been weighing on his heart for so long finally lifted, just a little.

Perhaps this was for the best.

At least she wouldn't be hurt again.

In the car on the way home, Mr. Hart's expression was darker than the night sky outside.

Sabrina sat beside him, not daring to breathe too loudly, her eyes repeatedly shooting daggers at the dejected Lilian huddled in the corner.

It was all this useless daughter's fault!

What an embarrassment!

The moment the car stopped in front of the Hart family's villa, Lilian threw the door open like a madwoman and bolted inside.

Crash!

The antique vase in the living room, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, was hysterically swept to the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces.

"Why! Why!"

She screamed, tears and makeup smearing her face, erasing any trace of her usual poised, debutante image.

"Why that bitch! Who the hell does she think she is!"

"Is Damien blind? How could he fall for that dull, lifeless jinx Grace!"

Sabrina, pained by the loss of the vase and even more irritated by her daughter's shrewish display, screeched, "What's the use of throwing a tantrum here? If you've got the guts, go make a scene in front of Damien!"

"I…" Lilian was cut short.

She knelt before him, tears streaming down her face.

"Dad, you love me most, right? Your daughter has been wronged so terribly. You have to help me get my dignity back!"

Mr. Hart finally lifted his eyelids, his gaze colder and more distant than she had ever seen.

"Get your dignity back? And how would you do that?"

Lilian said eagerly, "My birthday is next month, isn't it? Dad, throw a party for me! Make it even bigger and more lavish than tonight's banquet! Invite every important person in Jarrow City. I want everyone to see that I, Lilian, am the most beloved daughter of the Hart family, and Grace is nothing!"

She expected her father to agree without question, as he had countless times before.

Instead…

Smack!

A sharp, resounding slap landed squarely on her face.

The entire living room fell silent.

Lilian clutched her stinging cheek, staring at her father in disbelief.
