The Most Important Person to Me
That creature born of darkness was devouring one of the villagers. Bones were scattered everywhere on the ground. At that moment, Alessandro realized that those bones belonged to all the villagers who had disappeared.
One of the guards asked,
“What is that thing, Your Majesty?”
“Something that shouldn’t exist.”
The creature turned around and leaped at Alessandro. He used his wind magic to swirl the flames of the torches around the creature, causing it to burn until it disappeared completely.
Upon leaving the cave, Alessandro ordered the guards to return to the nearby villages, saying * had already dealt with the creature that was attacking the villagers. That same day, Alessan returned to Duchess Mollin’s mansion. Upon arrival, the first thing he did was look for Abril, ar of the servants told him she was in the garden.
While searching for her, he encountered Cassian.
“Lessan, when did you return?”
“I just got back. It’s good to see you.”
“Are you looking for Abril?”
“Yes, but tell me how it went. Have you managed to find out anything more about the elves?”
“Yes, I spoke with one, and it seems that person is looking for Abril’s mother, a princess of the
elven kingdom.”
Alessandro frowned and asked,
“Does he know about Abril?*
“I don’t think so. In fact, I think he doesn’t even know that Abril’s mother has died.”
“I see. Did you talk about anything else with that elf?”
“I asked him about the darkness.”
“And what did he say?”
“That we should defeat it before it fully awakens, because when it does, we will be doomed.”
“Today I encountered another one of those creatures in the Lore forest. I hate to admit it, but I think that elf is right. We must deal with King Venobich.”
“Are we starting the war?”

“It seems so. When we return, we must gather our generals and prepare our army. The war will be
sooner than I had thought.”
Alessandro saw Abril passing by. She was with the children and a young woman with dark skin whom he did not recognize, so he asked,
Who is that woman with Abril?”
“She’s a friend.”
Alessandro kept looking at Cassian and asked,
“A friend?”
“It’s not what you think; she’s really just a friend.”
Alessandro placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder and said,
“That young woman is very beautiful, I think you should start making a move.”
“I would never do something like that.”
“Why not?”
“Don’t try to matchmake me, I’ll find my partner on my own.”
“I was just giving you some advice, now I’ll leave you. After being away, all I want is a nice bath with my wife.”
“Lessan, you should stop being so blunt.”
“It’s the truth.”
Alessandro looked at Abril and said to him,
“When I’m away, I only think of her and how I can’t wait to come back to hold her in my arms.”
“It seems you’ve truly fallen in love.”
“I’d be lying if I said no, she’s become the most precious thing to me, though you’re still the most important person to me.”
Alessandro began to walk away and said to him.
“I’ll see you later.”
As Cassian watched his brother walk away, he thought,
“I don’t think I’m still the most important person to you, though you’ll always be to me, Lessan.”
When Abril saw Alessandro, she ran to him, and he lifted her into the air, saying.

Maya was surprised to see how much the king loved Abril, as during their journey, Cassian had told
her that their marriage had been arranged and not out of love.
Alessandro gave Abril a gentle kiss on the lips and said.
“I missed you.”
Seeing they were in the way, the duchess took the children and said.
“Kids, want to go see the stables? Some foals were just born.”
The two children nodded happily, Maya also left, joining Cassian who was nearby.
Alessandro covered Abril with kisses, and she asked.
“How was your trip?”
“Good.”
“You’re not hurt, right?”
“No, but if you want, we can go to the room and you can check for yourself.”
Abril caressed his cheek and said.
“I’m glad you’re okay, I was very worried about you!”
“I’m strong, I won’t go down easily.”
“Even so, I can’t help but worry about you when you’re away.”
“I feel the same way. How are you? Have you dreamed of your mother again?”
“I’m fine and I haven’t dreamed about my mother again, but I hope she appears in my dreams soon.
I want to learn to use my magic as soon as possible and break the necessary seals.”
“When we return to the palace, you can continue with your lessons.”
“When will we return?”
“We’ll return tomorrow.”
A shadow of sadness crossed Abril’s face, Alessandro asked.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you want to return?”
“It’s not that, I just wish this trip wouldn’t end.”

“Someday we’ll travel together again, we’ll travel across the entire kingdom and it won’t be a work
trip..
“I would love that.”
“Me too, but until that day comes, let’s make the most of this last day.”
“Will you take me somewhere?”
“No, I was thinking of something different.”
Alessandro wrapped his arms around Abril’s waist and whispered in her ear.
“We could go back to our room, have a nice bath, and just relax by letting go of ourselves.”
“Let ourselves go? What do you mean?”
“That we could make love.”
Alessandro gave her a long, seductive kiss, one that thrilled and made Abril tremble.
“What do you say, Aby?”
“But what about the children?”
“I think they’ll be fine with the duchess.”
Blushing, Abril replied.
“Then I suppose we could.”
Alessandro scooped her up in his arms and said.
“Then let’s not waste any more time.”
“Put me down, I can walk.”
“I know, but I prefer to carry you in my arms, that way we’ll get there faster.”
When they reached the room, Alessandro went straight to the bathroom, the tub was full, he began to undress and feasted his eyes on Abril as she did the same, eager to touch her body, to feel the softness of her skin. When there was no piece of clothing left, Alessandro took Abril in his arms and placed her in the tub, their naked bodies pressed together; the water was cold, yet neither of them felt it that way, their bodies were aflame with desire, eager to become one.
Alessandro’s hands explored her body, Abril did the same while they devoured each other in a passionate kiss. Their tongues intertwined and explored each other’s mouths. After the bath, Alessandro used his magic to dry their bodies since he didn’t want to waste any more time, he took Abril to the bedroom and there he made love to her passionately for the rest of the afternoon,
until Abril was utterly spent.
I’m Getting Selfish
After having such a hectic afternoon, Abril was sleeping deeply, and Alessandro kept watch over her. He’d only been away for a few days, but they felt like an eternity to him; it was getting harder and harder for him to be away from her.
Alessandro loathed the idea of starting a war. He knew that when that happened, he would have to be on the battlefield for a long time, and although at first, he had thought of using Abril’s power to win the war, he no longer thought that way. The very thought of Abril on the battlefield, surrounded by death, terrified him because he could no longer imagine a life without her.
But the war was imminent. Alessandro knew they had to put an end to King Venobich before he continued unleashing more horrors in his kingdom. What Alessandro didn’t understand was why King Venobich was conducting his experiments in his kingdom; he should have known Alessandro would find out and be ready for what was coming, or perhaps that was just a small part, the leftovers he didn’t need, and what was coming would be even worse.
Alessandro got up from the bed, and when he did, Abril woke up and asked him.
“Where are you going?”
“I was going to get something to eat.”
Abril glanced out the window; it was already pitch dark. She sat up in bed, pulling the sheet around her, and asked.
“Did we miss dinner?”
“I think so. Are you hungry?”
“Yes.”
Alessandro gently kissed her lips and said.
“I’ll go ask them to bring us dinner. I’ll be right back.
“Don’t take long.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
After Alessandro left, Abril got out of bed, went to the wardrobe, and took out a white silk nightgown. Then she went out to the balcony, and a soft, fresh breeze caressed her face. She lingered, gazing at the garden; it looked beautiful, the moonflowers glowed beautifully.
She let out a heavy sigh; her journey was nearing its end. The next day she would be returning to the royal palace, something she wasn’t eager to do. For the first time, she’d ventured beyond the palace walls, for the first time she had tasted what freedom was, and for the first time, she wished her newfound freedom wouldn’t be snatched away; she wondered how long she would spend

I’m getting selfish.”
Alessandro had returned to the room and had heard what Abril had said.
“Why do you say that?”
“You’re back.”
Alessandro came over, wrapped his arms around her, and asked again.
“Why do you say you’re getting selfish?”
“Because even though I had nothing before, now I want more things.”
“You know you can ask for whatever you want, and I’ll give it to you.”
“I know.”
“Then why don’t you tell me what you want?”
