The duties of a spouse

After Sirius finished reading the book, he looked at Alessandro and said, “Your wife truly possesses this magic?”
“Yes, I’ve seen it myself.”
“How could King Venobich let someone so valuable go?”
“She said the king believed she didn’t possess any magic.”
“I suppose that is fortunate for us. With her, we could win the war.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself. Her magic hasn’t awakened yet.”
“I know, but…”
Sirius sat there pondering on something, then said,
“But when her power awakens, she will become a double–edged sword. She could help us win the
war or be our downfall.”
“I’m aware of that. So far, she has remained calm since she hasn’t had any power, but we don’t
know if she will remain the same once her power awakens.”
“I think it would be best to leave things as they are,” Sirius said.
Alessandro shook his head and said,
“She can heal Cassian’s injury. I want my brother to be the same as before.”
“But that’s too dangerous. She is the daughter of our enemy.”
“I know that, but I’m still willing to take that risk.”
Sirius knew that Alessandro always felt guilty about Cassian’s injury. He had searched for
countless ways to heal his brother, but none had worked.
Sirius got up from the sofa, returned the book and said, “I will go and meet your wife. I will begin
her teaching as soon as possible.”
“Thank you,” the king replied.
Sirius went to look for the princess. He asked several servants where she was, but none could tell him. Sirius ran into Cassian in the hallway. He greeted him and said, “Hello, Sirius, what are you
doing in the palace?”
“I came to see your brother. He asked me to teach the princess the principles of magic, but no

matter how much I ask, no one can tell me where she is.”
“She doesn’t live in the palace. Very few people know where to find the princess.”

“That’s right. She lives in a small house on the far side of the palace grounds. If you want, I can
guide you.”
“I would be very grateful if you did.”
“Then follow me.”
Cassian guided Sirius to Abril. That day, she was working in her garden. Sirius stared at the beautiful redhead in front of him and asked Cassian,
“Is that the princess?”
“Yes.”
“And this is where she lives?”
“Yes.”
“Why is the princess living in such a humble way?”
“Apparently, she likes it here.”
Cassian approached the princess and said, “Hello Abril, this is Sirius.”
“Hello Princess,” Sirius greeted.
Abril felt uncomfortable before Sirius. He looked at her up and down as everyone else did, judging her without even knowing her. She hid her mud–stained hands behind her back and replied, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“I’ve been looking for the princess for quite some time. I will be your magic tutor,” Sirius said.
Abril remembered that the king had told her that she should learn the principles of magic, but she considered it pointless since she possessed no magic. She said, “I don’t possess magic. I don’t think it’s necessary for me to learn such a thing.”
“It is an order from the king. It doesn’t matter if you consider it necessary or not.”
“But…”
Abril couldn’t complete her sentence as Sirius said,
“Today, I just wanted to introduce myself. We will begin your lessons tomorrow.’re sure you are

at the palace. I will come by mid–morning.”
Abril nodded. Sirius left after saying goodbye.

“Although Sirius is a serious guy, he is a good person. He is also a good teacher. You will surely learn a lot from him. Cassian said.
“I don’t know why His Majesty wants me to learn the principles of magic. What good is there in learning that which you do not possess?”
“You never know. Maybe you do possess magic, but it hasn’t awakened yet.”
“I’ve never heard of such a thing. For everyone who possesses magic, it awakens before they turn six. It’s not that my magic hasn’t awakened, it’s just that I don’t possess such a thing.”
Cassian wanted to tell Abril that she was wrong, that she did possess magic. But if his brother hadn’t told her, he didn’t think he should either, so he remained silent. That day, he stayed and watched Abril tend to her plants, and afterward, they shared some snacks.
The butler went to fetch Abril during the afternoon and took her to the palace. Cassian wondered why they had come for her so early. Normally, they always took her at dusk to prepare her and take her to the king’s chambers.
Seeing the princess’s mud–stained dress, the butler asked the maids to give her a bath and change her clothes. Afterward, they took her to a room where a middle–aged woman was waiting. She introduced herself to Abril with a curtsy and said, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty. I am Lady Elizabeth Cromer. I will be instructing Your Majesty.”
“Thank you very much,” Abril replied.
“Let’s begin the lesson. Please, take a seat, Your Majesty.”
The maids served tea and pastries. Afterward, Lady Elizabeth ordered the maids to withdraw. Once alone, Elizabeth gave Abril a gentle smile. That was the first time Abril felt that someone didn’t look at her with hatred or contempt, but on the contrary, treated her like the queen. Lady Elizabeth had never for once called her “Princess,” as the others did, reminding her that although she had married the king, she was not considered a queen.
“I hope Your Majesty feels comfortable with me. If you have any doubts or questions about what I will be teaching you, I hope Your Majesty asks freely.”
“Thank you, Lady Elizabeth,” Abril said.
“The butler told me that I should give you the education of a wife.”
Lady Elizabeth took out a book and said, “I will teach you everything you need to ki.

duties and obligations of a wife in the bedchamber. Have you ever been taught anything about this
subject?”
“No, but I have read some books.”
“Your Majesty, could you tell me what you have learned?”
“Of course. The books said that if a couple kisses and sleeps in each other’s arms, they will have a
baby.”
Elizabeth felt a certain tenderness upon hearing the princess. She smiled gently and said, “For a couple to have a baby, something more is needed, Your Majesty. Kisses and hugs are essential for the intimacy of a couple, but they are not enough to create a baby.”
“Really?”
“That’s right, Your Majesty. Kisses are only the beginning. Today, I will explain to you as much as possible how babies are made, so pay close attention. And as I mentioned before, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Alright.” Abril replied.
