Part II: Losing Control
Abril ran with all her might until she reached the palace gates. That whirlwind she had seen from a distance was even larger up close. The wind blew so hard that for a moment she felt like she was going to fly through the air if she didn’t plant her feet firmly on the ground.
Cassian was watching from afar, waiting for Alessandro to calm down, when he saw Abril arrive. He needed to explain to her what was happening, so he went to her while holding onto the iron bars of the palace gates.
“Aby.”
“Cassian! What’s going on? Alessandro has lost control. You have to cancel his magic before he destroys the palace.”
Abril looked back at that whirlwind. It was complete chaos. She wondered what had happened to
make Alessandro lose control like that.
“Why has he lost control?”
Cassian knew that the news of what had been done to Lissana would destroy Abril, so he wouldn’t
say anything until Alessandro regained his composure.
“There’s no time to lose, Aby. Cancel Alessandro’s magic.”
Sirius had told Abril not to use her magic since her improvement was just an illusion, but she had to help Alessandro. She gathered all the power she had. Since it wasn’t too safe to approach Alessandro, she began to walk towards the whirlwind. Seeing her, Cassian said,
“You can’t go in there. That wind will tear you apart!
Abril ignored Cassian’s warning and kept moving forward. With each step she took, she struggled to keep her feet on the ground. Several branches and stones that the whirlwind had lifted made small cuts on her arms and began to tear her clothes. She covered her face to prevent a stone or branch from ending up in her eyes.
Reaching Alessandro was not easy. She shouted with all her might, but she was not heard. Her words seemed to vanish into thin air.
Alessandro was standing in the middle of that whirlwind with his head down. Abril only had to cross the last layer of wind of the whirlwind. She put her hand in, but the force of the wind almost
tore it off.
“Alessandro!” she called to him again and again, but he didn’t answer.
Abril couldn’t get through that wall of wind that Alessandro had created, so she had no choice but to use her canceling magic, but she had so little power that she could only make his whirlwind lose

a little strength, which she took advantage of. She grossed the last layer and reached him. She hugged him tightly and said,
“Alessandro! You have to stop.”
At that moment, when her arms surrounded him, Alessandro came to his senses. The strong tornado he had created disappeared, as if all the chaos inside him had subsided.
“Aby, what are you doing here?”
“Alessandro, you finally came to your senses.”
After saying that, Abril fainted in his arms. She looked pale. Alessandro was scared. He had lost
Lissana. The mere idea that he could lose Abril too terrified him.
“Aby! Wake up!”
Sirius had had a lot of trouble getting rid of the monsters, but in the end, he had succeeded. When he thought he would finally get a break from the torturous journey he had had, he was in for a big surprise when he saw a huge whirlwind in the royal palace.
He ran at great speed. When he arrived, the whirlwind was gone, but the scene he encountered
was much worse.
Alessandro hugging Abril, begging her to wake up.
Sirius approached them. Seeing Abril’s pale face, Sirius knew what had happened. She had used
her magic.
“Damn it, I told her not to use her magic.”
“Sirius, what’s wrong with Aby?”
“She exhausted her magic. She was barely recovering. I told her she couldn’t use her magic, but
she didn’t listen to me.”
Alessandro’s blood ran cold at the thought that Aby was in that state because of him.
“Sirius, do something, help her, don’t let her lose her too.”
“What did you just say? Who have you lost?”
“Lissana.”
“She… died?”
“No, the Elven Queen was here. She came for Abril. When she didn’t find her, she took Lissana with her. Please, Sirius, save her.”
Sirius could see the pure terror in Alessandro’s eyes, the fear of losing everything he loved.
When a person collapsed from having emptied all their magic, they could only wait for the person
to recover the magic on their own. Many died, but some managed to overcome it.
There’s nothing we can do for her, just wait for her to get through it.”
If she doesn’t, she’ll die, won’t she? Isn’t there anything you can do for her?”
Tve heard of people sharing their mana, but they must be mages with the same attribute. None of us possess the same attribute as her, so that would be impossible. We can only hope that her
magic recovers before she…”
“Before she dies?!”
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. She’s a strong person with a great deal of magic. I’m sure she’ll
be able to get out of this.”
Cira was watching from a distance. Leonel asked her,
Princess Cira, aren’t you going to do anything?”
I was thinking of giving my sister a hard time, but I think she’s going through enough as it is, so l don’t need to do anything.”
You don’t want to kill her? After everything she’s done, she deserves to die.”
I don’t want her to die. I want her to suffer. I won’t rest until I see her lose everything she loves, and
it seems I won’t have to wait long, so be patient. Soon you’ll get what you want so badly, your
revenge.”
Cira turned around and said,
“Let’s go. I still have to find the other key to the Gates of Hades.”
