Part II: It’s Also Your Family
When Kiara heard that her mother had returned, she ran to see her, curious about her Aunt Sophia’s
daughter.
“Will she look like Aunt Sophia?” she wondered before entering the room where her mother was. But when she entered, she encountered a somewhat unexpected scene: her mother was holding a baby with black hair and golden eyes.
The first thing that came out of Kiara’s mouth was,” My cousin is a baby?!”
“Kiara, how many times have I told you to knock before entering?” her mother scolded, Kiara ignored her mother’s reprimand, approached her, and stared intently at the baby who was about to
cry.
“I thought Aunt Sophia had died a long time ago. Why is my cousin a baby?”
“This child is not your cousin, not Sophia’s daughter. She is the daughter of the half–breed.”
“Wow, she is very pretty. Where is my cousin?”
“I haven’t found her, but I’m sure she will come on her own.”
“Did you steal her child?!”
“Yes, I had to find some way to lure her to me.”
Kiara gave her mother an accusatory look and said, “You shouldn’t have done that!”
“You are too soft, Kiara. You need to learn that only the strongest survive in this world.”
“That’s nonsense.”
Lissana began to cry, and Enora started to get desperate; her crying was extremely annoying. So she handed her over to Bleir and said, “Take her away; her crying is extremely annoying.”
Kiara took the baby from Bleir, as she had picked her up as if she were a small animal. She tried to calm her, saying, “Everything will be fine, little one, so don’t cry.”
“What are you doing, Kiara?”
“I will take care of the baby. In Bleir’s hands, she wouldn’t last a day.”
“This child must be isolated.”
“She is a baby, mother!” Kiara began to walk away. Enora got angry and said, “Kiara, leave that
baby.”
“No, I won’t.”
Partits Also Your Family
“She is a half-breed, Kiara!”
25 fronts
“She is part of our family; we share blood ties with her, so stop treating her like a strange creature
because she is not.”
Kiara left the room, and Enora let out a long sigh and said, “What will I do with this daughter of
mine?”
Bleir responded, “If I may say something, I think it is best for Princess Kiara to take care of the baby. Remember that you promised to care for her
“I suppose you are right. For now, I will let Kiara take care of her.”
Gala asked, “Your Majesty, what shall we do with Ethan and Dantriel?”
“Release them. I have already gotten what I wanted Just make sure they don’t come near Kiara and the baby.”
“As you command, Your Majesty.”
Kiara took the baby to her room and rocked her until she calmed down. Then she called one of the maids to prepare some milk. After feeding her, the baby fell asleep. Kiara stayed by her side, gently stroking her head and said, “I will take care of you until your mother comes to find you. I won’t let anyone harm you.”

Seven days had passed since Abril had collapsed. Alessandro felt powerless; he couldn’t do anything for her and, above all, felt guilty for not being able to prevent the elven queen from taking his daughter. While caressing Abril’s hand, Alessandro wondered what she would say when she found out he hadn’t been able to keep his promise to protect Lissana.
Cassian approached his brother, placed a hand on his shoulder, and said, “You need to rest, Lessan. You haven’t slept all night.”
“Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t sleep.”
“You must try; otherwise, you will end up getting sick. When Abril wakes up, she will need you more
than ever.”
“Do you think she won’t blame me for letting them take our daughter?”
“Lessan, you did everything you could to protect her”
“But it wasn’t enough; otherwise, she would be here”
Alessandro gently squeezed Abril’s hand and said,” should have protected my family, but in the end, I only hurt them. If it weren’t for me, Abril wouldn’t be in this situation.”
“Don’t be so hard on yourself, Lessan.”
Fault : Atoo You Family
“They took your daughter. If I had been in your place, I would have acted the same way you did. If I lost Maya or you, I would lose control too.”
Alessandro couldn’t stop feeling guilty, but his brother’s words comforted him. “Sleep a little, Lessan. I’ll stay with her.”
“Thank you.”
Alessandro didn’t want to be far from Abril, so he lay down on the sofa in the room and closed his eyes, hoping to sleep a bit. After a while, exhaustion overcame him, and he fell asleep. Two hours later, he woke up with a start. Cassian approached and asked, “What’s wrong, Lessan?”
“I had a nightmare.”
Alessandro ran his hand through his disheveled hair and said, “More than a nightmare, I just dreamt about my damned reality.”
Alessandro looked at Abril and asked, “How is Aby?
“She is the same; she hasn’t woken up yet, but I think her complexion has improved a bit.” Alessandro stood up and approached Abril. He looked at her closely and realized Cassian was right; she seemed to have regained some color in her face, and even her breathing seemed normal. Cassian was somewhat worried about Maya, as she had relapsed two days ago.
“I am leaving. I want to check on Maya before returning to the office.”
“I heard she fainted. How is she?”
“She is better now, but the doctor said it would be best for her to rest for a few days.”
“I hope she recovers soon.”
“Then I will take my leave. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you, Cassian. Thank you for always being there when I need you.”
“You are my brother, my family. I will always be there for you.”
