“What is all this?” Abril asked, a bit confused by all the jewelry brought to her.

“It’s a gift from the queen. She has requested that you wear it today.”

“All of it?”

“Yes, I’ll help you get ready.”

Abril realized she wouldn’t win against the determined maid. There was no changing her mind. Alessandro stayed in a corner, playing with Lissana, while Abril was helped with her preparations. He was so absorbed in his play that he didn’t notice Abril was ready until she stood in front of him.

“This outfit is so uncomfortable,” Abril complained, adjusting the skirt of her dress. Alessandro was left speechless at the sight of her. Abril looked incredibly beautiful, like a true goddess. Alessandro felt as though he was falling in love with his wife all over again.

“How do I look?” Abril asked, a little shy, since the dress was quite revealing. Her arms were completely bare, the neckline was deep, and the skirt had a scandalously high slit along her leg. The jewelry covered some of her pale skin, as she had been adorned with a fortune’s worth of jewels.

“You look stunning,” Alessandro finally replied, still in awe of how beautiful she was.

“Are you sure? I feel like I’m overly adorned.”

“Not at all. The jewelry has only enhanced your beauty. When we return, I’ll buy you plenty of gold and precious stones to complement your beauty even more.”

Abril already had a large collection of jewelry at the palace, though she rarely wore any since she found them uncomfortable. But after seeing Alessandro’s reaction, she decided she might wear them more often. At that moment, her husband’s eyes gleamed with love and excitement, clearly captivated by her.

A beautiful smile crossed her lips, and she said, “If I had known you liked seeing me adorned with jewels

this much, I would have done it sooner.”

“We need to go,” interrupted the maid who had helped Abril get ready. “The queen is waiting for you.”

Alessandro took Abril’s hand while holding Lissana with the other. They followed the maid down a long hallway to a beautiful garden, where Enora was waiting, dressed similarly to Abril. Enora wore a stunning blue chiffon dress, with exquisite jewelry adorning her body, exuding her regal dignity.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning, Your Majesty,” both Alessandro and Abril replied in unison.

Enora focused her gaze on Abril. She looked beautiful in the dress and jewelry Enora had sent her, resembling her sister Sophia even more, except for her long reddish hair.

“I chose well. That dress suits you perfectly.”

“Thank you for the dress and the jewels. I’ll return them before I leave.”

“There’s no need. The dress and jewelry belonged to your mother. I’m sure she would’ve wanted you to

have them.”

Abril, who had felt very uncomfortable before, now felt a wave of happiness upon hearing that the jewelry

and dress had belonged to her mother.

“Thank you very much.”

“This was your mother’s favorite garden. Let me show it to you.”

“Your Majesty,” Alessandro spoke to get the queen’s attention.

“What is it?”

“I’d like to visit the Guardians‘ Chamber again.”

“You don’t need my permission to do that.”

Enora then instructed the maid to show him the way. Abril took Lissana, and Alessandro left with the

maid.

“Let’s go,” Enora said as she continued walking.

Abril followed a few steps behind. Enora began speaking again, “This was your mother’s favorite garden,

which is why I didn’t want anything to be changed. When I miss her, I come here. Sometimes it feels like I might find her taking a walk or picking her favorite flowers.”

“It’s a beautiful garden. I understand why she loved it so much.”

“Yes, it is.”

When they reached a small gazebo, Enora gestured for Abril to sit. Sitting under the gazebo, Abril thought

it was the perfect moment to tell her they planned to leave that day and ask her to open a portal to

Cosset. Abril was about to speak when Enora interrupted her with a question.

“How is your daughter?”

“She’s doing well.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, my daughter is fine.”
