Abril felt uncomfortable with so many jewels on her, so she took them all off, except for the
pendant with her mother’s portrait that the queen had given her. She changed out of the
ostentatious dress into a comfortable nightgown. Then she returned to the sofa where Alessandro
was playing with Lissana. He had thought that once they returned home, she would feel more at
ease, but that was not the case.
“What’s wrong, Aby? You look worried.”
“It’s about Lissana. There’s something I need to tell you.”
Alessandro started to worry upon hearing the serious tone in Abril’s voice.
“What’s wrong, Aby? You’re worrying me.”
“The elven queen told me something that concerns me. It’s about the immense power Lissana has. Apparently, her small body can’t handle so much power.”
“And what does that mean?”
“Lissana needs to grow up faster so she can control her power.”
“But that’s impossible.”
“Actually, it’s not. In the fairy kingdom, time works differently. If we send her there, she has a better
chance of…”
“Of surviving!”
“Yes.”
Alessandro hugged his daughter, wrapping his arms around her small body as if trying to protect
her from danger.
“Our daughter is dying?!”
“No, but so much power could end up destroying her small body.”
“So, we have to leave our daughter with the fairies?!”
“Although I also hate the idea of being separated from my little one, I hate even more the idea of losing her forever.”
“She is so small, she might forget us if she stays away for too long.”
“That won’t happen. We’ll visit her, we’ll make sure she doesn’t forget us.”

Maya hugged her father, finding the gesture incredibly tender and wishing she could stay longer
with him and remember old times.
“That’s true, it’s been a long time.”
Ryan returned the hug to his daughter and asked her again, “Are you sure you want to marry Prince
Cassian?”
“Yes, Dad, I couldn’t be more sure.”
Ryan let out a long sigh. Although he didn’t like the idea of Maya marrying Cassian, he knew there was nothing he could do to change her mind, as it was something she had already decided.
“I hope you come to my wedding.”
“Of course, I will be there.”
“Really, I thought you didn’t like Cassian.”
“And I don’t, but you’re my little girl. I’ll be there for you. Besides, I want to have a little chat with
that young man.”
“Alright.”
“Now go
sit down, breakfast doesn’t make itself.”
Maya took her place at the kitchen table, watching her father cook. Barto arrived just as their father had finished preparing breakfast. That day, the three of them had a lively breakfast, setting aside their problems and focusing on that moment, where it was just them.
After finishing breakfast and clearing the dishes, Maya said goodbye to her father, giving him a warm hug and saying, “Goodbye, Dad.”
“It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon, my little one.”
“You’re right, see you soon.”
Barto was slinging his bag over his shoulder. Ryan looked at him for a moment and asked, “And where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m taking Maya back to the palace. Or do you want to send her alone?”
“Hmm… No, take your sister back and come back soon this time.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back today. I leave the guild in your capable hands, Father.”
“You’d better keep your word this time, or else I’ll have to consider my retirement.”

After bidding farewell to her father, Maya and Barto headed to the spot where they would use the
teleportation scroll. Before using it, Barto asked Maya, “Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
“Are you sure? Maybe you should stay a bit longer. You just used a teleportation scroll not too long
ago.”
“I’m fine, Barto, so don’t worry and just tear that scroll already.”
“Alright.”
Barto tore the scroll, and in an instant, they found themselves at the outskirts of the royal capital. Maya felt dizzy; everything started spinning, and she had to lean on Barto.
“Maya! Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine, just a little…”
Maya didn’t finish her sentence before she started vomiting on the street. After emptying her stomach, Barto helped her off the horse and led her to a large tree by the roadside.
Seeing her brother’s worried face, Maya said, “I’m fine, Barto. I just have a bit of an upset stomach
from the trip.”
“We shouldn’t have come back so soon. It would have been better to use a carriage instead of a
scroll.”
Maya hated traveling by carriage, as long trips always made her nauseous. “I think it would have been even worse. I just need to rest for a while, and I’ll be fine soon.”
Barto sat down next to Maya, and she took the opportunity to rest her head on his shoulder. “I’ll be fine. I just need to stay like this for a bit, and I’ll be good as new.”
The gentle breeze tousled her hair, refreshing her. Maya felt grateful as it made her feel better. She couldn’t wait to reunite with her beloved. As she gazed at the blue sky and the clouds drifting in the wind, she murmured almost imperceptibly, but Barto, with his keen hearing, caught it. “I’ll be with you soon, my love.”
Hearing Maya mention her love, Barto couldn’t help but think of his own. It had been a long time since he had seen or heard anything from his beloved, and he wondered if she still thought of him, if she still loved him.

Kiara woke up very early in the morning. She called one of the maids and requested a horse to be prepared. She also asked for an audience with Abril, as she didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye to her cousin. Kiara had no plans of returning soon. However, Abril wasn’t a morning
person, and in the end, Kiara had to wait the whole morning to speak with her.
Kiara was lazily leaning against the balcony railing when the maid who was attending to her arrived
and told her that the queen could now see her. The maid guided her to the garden, where the
queen was playing with the princess. After bringing her there, the maid promptly left.
Abril greeted Kiara with a smile. “Good morning.”
Kiara closed the distance between them and said, “I’m leaving to take care of some pending
matters in the human world. I think it’ll take a long time, but if you need my help, don’t hesitate to
ask. I’ll come right away.” Kiara handed her a small book. “If you write whatever you want to tell me
in this book, the words will appear in mine, so use it to contact me.”
“Thank you very much.”
“You’re welcome.”
Kiara’s gaze drifted to Lissana, watching her play so energetically. She asked Abril, “How is your
daughter?”
“She’s fine. For now, her power hasn’t gotten out of control.”
“She’s a very strong girl.”
“Yes, she is.”
“My horse is already prepared, so I’ll leave now. I just wanted to give you that book before going.”
“Good luck. I hope you can resolve your matters and have a good journey.”
“Thanks. And if my mother sends someone to spy on me, don’t tell them I left.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll cover for you. I owe you that much.”
“Thank you very much, and I hope everything goes well with your daughter.”
Abril looked at her little girl and replied, with all her heart wishing for everything to turn out well so she could watch her daughter grow up. “I do too.”
Kiara waved goodbye and headed for the exit–or at least she thought she was, because she ended up getting lost halfway. At some point, she found herself in a long hallway that she didn’t remember passing through. She started looking around for something familiar, but everything seemed strange to her. She continued wandering through the corridors, searching for the main door, until she finally ran into one of the maids.

“The main door, where is it?”
“The main door is on the other side of the palace.”

“You must have gotten distracted on the way. All the hallways in this palace look quite similar.
Please allow me to show you the
way out.”
Kiara had always been prone to getting lost, though it usually happened more in forests or cities. This was the first time it had happened to her in a building. She sighed and responded, “Yes,
please.”
When they arrived at the entrance, the maid covered her mouth with her hands in excitement. “Young Master Barto has returned!”
When Kiara heard Barto’s name, she immediately searched for him with her eyes. He was carrying a dark–haired girl in his arms. For a moment, she felt betrayed and hurt, thinking that he had forgotten about her and found a new love, especially since the way he looked at the girl was how someone looks at someone special.
Kiara clenched her fists, resisting the urge to go break a few of Barto’s bones. She had gone to the human world and defied her mother’s wishes just to be with him. She felt like a fool for believing that the love they shared was strong and lasting, the kind that time couldn’t erase. But in the end, it had only been a fleeting love, like the flowers of spring.
Barto looked up, and when he saw his beloved standing there, he thought his mind was playing tricks on him–that his longing to see her again had finally driven him mad. Their eyes met, and in that moment, it felt as if everything else disappeared, fading into the air, leaving just the two of
them.
