(Author’s POV)
A heavy, weary sigh echoed through the phone receiver, scratching against Caleb Stone’s ear.

“Caleb,” Alaric Stone’s voice sounded aged and exhausted. “You know clearly that Amelia has cut all ties
with you. Why go there and humiliate yourself?”
Caleb gripped the phone tighter, his knuckles turning white.
“Grandfather, please,” Caleb whispered.
“Appearing at her birthday banquet will not bring her any joy,” Alaric continued bluntly. “It will only disgust her. It might even enrage her. Do you really want to ruin her day?”
A choked sob escaped Caleb’s throat.
Inside him, his wolf, Noah, let out a mournful whimper, curling into a ball of misery. The pain of rejection
was a physical weight in his chest.
“I know,” Caleb stammered, his voice trembling. “I know I don’t deserve it. In twenty years, as her biological
brother, I never celebrated a single birthday for her. Not once.”
Tears streamed down his face, hot and stinging.
“I spent every year celebrating that fraud, Celine,” he confessed, the regret corroding his insides like acid. “I hurt Amelia over and over again for a fake sister. I just… I just want to stand in the corner as a guest. I
won’t cause trouble. I just want to wish her a happy birthday.”
Silence stretched on the line.
Finally, Alaric spoke, his tone relenting slightly but still stern. “I will ask her. But do not hold your hope
high.”
“Thank you, Grandfather,” Caleb breathed.
“Listen to me,” Alaric’s voice hardened instantly. “If she refuses, you must accept it. You will focus on your
music and stop acting like an abandoned pup. You brought this on yourselves.”
Caleb flinched at the harsh truth.
“You only learned to cherish her after the family was shattered,” Alaric scolded, his anger rising. “Do you realize what your father did? Adrian kidnapped Seraphina to steal the Alpha position and the family fortune. That is a grave crime.”
Caleb lowered his head in shame.
“If it weren’t for our blood ties, Adrian would have been exiled or executed by now according to werewolf

law,” Alaric said ruthlessly. “Amelia saving Ethan’s wolf and curing the Wolfsbane was already the greatest mercy. Do not push your luck.”
“I’m sorry,” Caleb whispered, his voice barely audible. “I’m so sorry.”

Night fell over the Stone River Pack territory.
Amelia walked into the main living room of the Pack House, ending a long day of work.
Jaxon Stone was sitting on the sofa, engaged in a low conversation with Alaric.
As Amelia entered, Alaric looked up. He forced a stiff, benevolent smile onto his serious face.
“You’re back, Amelia,” Alaric said.
Amelia sat down opposite them. Her senses were sharp. She could feel the subtle tension vibrating in the
air.
She looked directly at her grandfather. “Is something wrong?”
Alaric hesitated. “Nothing much. Just… talking about the weather. It’s getting colder.”
Inside Amelia’s mind, her silver wolf, Ava, let out a snort of derision. *He is lying.*
Amelia raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk touching her lips. “Grandfather, you are terrible at small talk. Just
say it.”
Alaric’s shoulders slumped. He knew he couldn’t fool her.
“It is about your birthday,” Alaric admitted slowly. “Is it truly impossible for Adrian and his family to attend? Just as silent guests?”
Amelia’s expression didn’t flicker. Her sapphire eyes remained cold and clear.
“No,” she said firmly.
“Amelia-” Alaric started.
“This is my first birthday since reclaiming my identity,” Amelia interrupted, her voice steady. “It is the first time I will celebrate with my real parents. I want a night of laughter and joy. I will not allow Adrian, Livia, or those brothers who tormented me to ruin the atmosphere.”
Jaxon stood up abruptly from his chair.
He moved to stand beside Amelia, his tall frame radiating protective Alpha power.
“I support my daughter,” Jaxon stated, his voice like grinding stones. “When Adrian kidnapped Seraphina, he crossed my bottom line. I held back from a formal Alpha challenge only because we share blood.”
Jaxon looked at Alaric with steel in his grey eyes. “That brotherhood is dead. They are not family anymore.”

Amelia leaned back, crossing her arms. “I saved Ethan’s wolf. That was my final act of mercy. If you try to
force me to accept them, Grandfather, things will get very ugly.”
Alaric looked at the united front of father and daughter. He saw the resolve in their eyes.
He sighed deeply, nodding his head. “I understand. I accept your decision.”
The tension in the room remained thick until the sound of footsteps approached.
Seraphina walked in, carrying a tray of sliced fresh fruit and delicate pastries. Her warm smile broke the
ice immediately.
“Come, have some fruit,” Seraphina said cheerfully, placing the tray on the coffee table. “Don’t look so
serious.”
They ate in a much lighter atmosphere.
After dinner, Jaxon produced a document and handed it to Alaric.
“This is the draft for the birthday guest list,” Jaxon said.
Alaric put on his reading glasses. He scanned the names.
“It is much shorter than usual,” Alaric noted.
“We cut out the social climbers and the sycophants,” Jaxon explained proudly. “Only true friends and
family. And look here.”
He pointed to a section of the list.
“I have arranged a specialized convoy to pick up Amelia’s friends from the Meadow Brook Pack,” Jaxon said, looking at his daughter with soft eyes. “The elders, the neighbors. They will travel in comfort and
safety. We won’t repeat the mistake of the engagement party where they were neglected.”
Amelia’s eyes lit up. A genuine, brilliant smile transformed her face.
“You really are the best father in the world,” she said, her voice full of emotion.
Jaxon beamed, swelling with pride and happiness.
Alaric watched them. He saw the love, the warmth, the genuine connection. This was what a family was
supposed to look like.
