Uzziel perked up when he saw Lissana, and they walked hand in hand until they reached the garden, where a table with food had been prepared.
Lissana and Uzziel grabbed a quick bite and then went to play, although Lissana looked somewhat
downcast.
“What’s wrong with Lissana? She seems a little down.”
“She dreamed of her friend. She says she’s sad because she didn’t keep her promise to be at his birthday party, and now she thinks he hates her.”
“That boy adores her, he follows her around like a little chick since they were babies.”
“Do they get along well too?”
“They’ve grown up together and are the same age, it’s normal for them to get along well.”
“I hope they continue to get along when she returns to the land of the fairies.”
“He will still care for her, but I don’t think their friendship will be the same. Time in the land of the fairies flows faster. By the time we return perhaps Tarik will already be an adult.”
“That will sadden Lissana, because when she returns, her friend might have changed, he will no longer be
the boy she said goodbye to.
“Although it won’t be easy, I’m sure she’ll come to terms with it.”
“I hope so.”

Two days had passed since Tarik’s birthday, and he had been feeling sad and downcast ever since.
The queen was giving him his succession lessons, but noticing his lack of interest, she asked him,
“What’s wrong, Tarik?”
“Won’t Lissana return to the land of the fairies?”
“She definitely will, although it may take her a long time to return.”
“I don’t think she will, she’s happy in the human kingdom.”
“She will, because her kingdom is at war, when the battle begins, her parents will send her back here to
protect her.”
The expression of sadness disappeared from Tarik’s face and he asked with excitement, “Then, will she
return soon?”
“It might feel soon for her, but not for us; time keeps flowing and doesn’t stop, the years will fly by, and you
will grow up. When she returns, she may still be the little Lissana you know, but you will longer be a

child.”

“If you paid attention to your classes, you would know. I’ve been explaining it to you, time flows differently here. What might be a month in the human realm can be months or even years for us, although sometimes
it can be just a day. I control the flow of time depending on the need, and when you become king, you will
control it.:”
“Then you can make time stop, you can stop me from growing until Lissana returns.”
“I could, but I won’t.”
“Why not?!”
“Do you want me to tell you why time here is so volatile?”
Tarik nodded his head.
“It is like this to ward off enemies, to protect our kingdom. We fairies have a long life, but it is not the
same for humans. There was a time when fairies and humans lived in the same kingdom; we fairies were
turned into slaves, subjected, and tortured by humans. That’s why I created the land of the fairies, full of
wonders and freedom, a world where we have long and peaceful lives, a world where we are not slaves.”
