Part II: The Dark Book
When Alessandro left the guardians‘ room, he was shocked by the story he had just heard. He felt strange
knowing that his lineage was even older than he had thought; he was a descendant of an angel.
That certainly would never have crossed his mind. His struggle was against something more powerful
than he had believed.
He scratched his head and wondered what he should do and if they had any chance to defeat the dark
king.
“This will be a big problem.”
Cassian was waiting for him at the entrance, and seeing him so confused, he asked, “What’s wrong,
Lessan?”
Alessandro looked at his brother, and for a moment, he doubted whether to tell him what the first guardian
had said, but in the end, he decided not to. He didn’t want his brother to feel as confused and worried as
he was, nor did he want to place an unnecessary burden on his shoulders.
“Nothing’s wrong, I’m just a little tired.”
“Tired, but I’m doing all your work.”
“You’ve had years of rest, let me take a breather.”
“I was talking to Barto, everything seems very calm in the kingdom; there haven’t been any more monster
attacks.”
“Yes, but I fear this peace is only temporary.”
“Cira’s silence can’t be a good thing.”
“I think the same as you.”
Alessandro had been in the guardians‘ room for a long time, and it was already night.
“It’s late, I’ll go say goodnight to Lissana.”
“She might already be asleep.”
“Even so, I want to see her face since maybe soon I won’t be able to.”
“She’s your only daughter, and you haven’t been able to see her grow up; it must not have been easy for you.”
“No, it wasn’t, especially because her growth has been so accelerated. In a few months, she grew what would take years, years in which she hasn’t had her parents, although luckily she had you all. Thank you for taking care of my daughter, Cassian.”
“She’s my niece; taking care of her hasn’t been a problem for me.”

“Even so, thank you.”
Alessandro said goodbye to his brother and went to see Lissana.

She had already fallen asleep, and Abril was next to her. He watched them for a moment; they both looked like angels sleeping, and that reminded him of what Cassiel had said about his ancestry. He had insisted
on knowing the truth, but he had realized that it had changed his life and his way of seeing things
completely.
Alessandro lay down on the bed next to Lissana, looking at his beautiful family. And he prayed to the God of the heavens to help them win the battle, not to let their world be destroyed by darkness. That everything
he loved would disappear.
The next day, Alessandro spent the whole day with Lissana, teaching her to control her wind, preparing her
for a future that was uncertain for
everyone.

Two months later…
Liona was tired of being in that lightless room, tired of searching for a book that perhaps didn’t exist. She
had followed Cira because she wanted power, she wanted to take revenge on Abril and make her suffer,
see her crawling on the ground begging for mercy.
But so far, all she had done was follow Cira like a lapdog, waiting in the shadows for her to give some
order.
She was contemplating leaving Cira to pursue her revenge when Cira suddenly said, “I found it.”
Liona hurried to where Cira was and asked her, “Did you find the book?”
“Yes, I knew it was here, the dark book, which gives you the answer to any question.”
The book Cira had in her hand was bound in black leather, it was thick and had a kind of lock shaped like a
snake, and a huge eye on the cover, which looked extremely grotesque.
Liona was grateful it wasn’t her who found it, as she didn’t believe she could touch it; just seeing it made her feel repulsed.
Although, in reality, all the books in that place were creepy, she could never forget the horrors that had been written on those pages.
“It’s closed, it seems to need a key.”
Cira ran her hand over the spine of the book, examined it for a few seconds, and on the back of the book, there were letters that said, “Only the shedding of blood clears the way and opens any door.”
“This book doesn’t need a key, but fresh blood.”
Cira looked at Liona with a wicked smile on her face. Liona instinctively stepped back, wondering if that would be her end, but then Cira bit her own wrist, breaking the skin, and let the blood flow over the lock,

which began to move and hiss. When the book was no longer locked, the eye on the cover opened, looked
at Cira, and then Cira opened the book. Cira asked her question.
“How can I take the key with a mortal body?”
A beam of black light burst from the book’s pages. It shot towards the dark ceiling, breaking the stone,
creating a great rumble that echoed through the cavern like a loud buzz.
The cavern was collapsing, but Cira kept holding the book, the black light continued to pour from the
pages. Cira watched the light intently as if she were reading something.
“This place is collapsing, princess, we must get out of here.”
Cira didn’t seem to hear, Liona wanted to flee, but she didn’t know where the exit was. She kept calling out to Cira desperately until the book in Cira’s hands turned to ashes. Then she reacted, darting towards Cira like lightning, shadows surrounded their bodies, and in a moment they found themselves outside the
cavern, which then completely collapsed.
“Did you manage to get what you
wanted?”
“Yes, I know how to get the key to Hades, but there’s something I need to find first. I need angel blood.”
Angels were celestial beings that Liona had never believed in, she wondered if Cira had finally gone mad searching for something that was impossible to find, but since she couldn’t say it directly, she asked, “So, do you know where to look?”
“Yes, so let’s go, let’s not waste any more time.”
