When Cassian woke up, he saw Maya sitting on the bed, reading the book her father had given her. She looked at him with a worried expression on her face; he gave her a gentle pat on the back to get her
attention and asked,
“Have you been awake for long?”
“No.”
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing.”
“You seem restless. What’s wrong?”
“Too many things, aren’t you worried?”
“I am too, but I don’t know, it seems like something else is bothering you.”
“I’m a bit worried about the keys. I don’t think they’ll give them to us just by asking.”
“I hadn’t thought of that, but darkness affects us all. Shouldn’t they want to help us?”
“I’m not so sure, but let’s hope they do.”
One of the maids knocked on Maya’s room door and said,
“Miss Maya, I’ve been sent to fetch you.”
Maya closed the book she was holding, got up, opened the wardrobe, and took out a blue tunic and black pants. As she changed, she said,
“Your clothes were very dirty. I’ll ask them to bring you a change of clothes.”
“Yes, I wouldn’t like to go out into the hallway in such a deplorable state,” he joked as he got up, wearing a
robe that barely covered him.
After changing, Maya peeked out the door and asked the maid waiting outside to guide her to where she
was supposed to go.
“Are you ready, Miss Maya?”
“Yes, but first I want you to bring a change of clothes for Cassian.”
From the door, she could see the prince inside the room wearing a robe that was too small for him. She
gave him a quick glance and looked away.
“Right away, Miss Maya.”
The maid left, and she met Lisa, another maid who was in front of the prince’s room door. She asked her,
“What are you doing, Lisa?”

“Doroti, I was sent to fetch Prince Cassian, but I think he’s not here because he hasn’t answered.”

Doroti opened the door and said,
“That’s because he’s not here, he’s in Miss Maya’s room, and from his clothes, I think he slept with her.”
“So the rumors that they’re together are true.”
“It seems so.”
“That girl must be lucky. What could she have done to make the prince fall into her hands?”
“She’s very pretty.”
“She must have charmed him.”
After Doroti took the clothes from the wardrobe, she headed to the door and said,
“Be careful with what you say, Lisa. It doesn’t matter how their relationship started, she is his partner. You’ll be in trouble if she hears what you said.”
“I know, it was just a comment.”
“I’ll give you some advice. If you want to keep working here, save your comments.”
Lisa followed her and said,
“Wait for me, I have to fulfill what I was ordered to do.”
Lisa followed Doroti to Maya’s room. After delivering the clothes, shortly after, the two of them left the
room. Lisa informed the prince that he had also been summoned and then left.
Doroti guided them to the room where she had been ordered to take them and left.
“You’ve taken a long time to come, I suppose it’s a royal custom,” Ethan complained when Maya and Cassian entered the room. Maya ignored his words and asked,
“How was your trip?”
It was Dantriel who answered, while taking out two medallions. They were leather cords with wooden pendants carved in the shape of two circles. Maya took one and asked,
“Will this really work?”
“I assure you, it’s effective.”
“Have you used them before?”
“Yes, occasionally I was sent as an emissary to the fairy kingdom; I assure you they work.”
“And when will we leave?”
“I think it’s best if we go right now. We have no time to lose.”
“Yes, I think the same, it would be best if we left immediately.”

“Then let’s get ready to leave.”
“Yes, any suggestions for the journey?”

“Hmm… just wear comfortable clothes, we’ll have to walk quite a bit to reach the fairy kingdom.”
Maya, upon hearing that they had to walk, asked,
“Can’t we use a scroll of teleportation?”
“You can’t reach the fairy kingdom using a scroll. We’ll get to a certain point using a scroll, but we’ll have to
walk.”
Maya headed to the door and said,
“Then I’ll go get ready.”
After Maya left the room, Cassian asked them,
“Do you think the fairies will be willing to help us? That they’ll want to give us the key they possess without
asking for anything in return?”
“I doubt it, fairies aren’t very generous. If we want them to give us the key to the gates of Hades they possess, we must offer something of equal value.”
“So, what do you think we should offer them?”
“I don’t know, we’ll find out when we’re there, and we’ll give them whatever they ask for.”
“What if it’s something we can’t provide?”
“We’ll have to figure out a way to make it happen.”
Maya was about to finish packing her things in her bag when someone knocked on her room door. It was
Cassian. She asked him.
“Are you all packed?”
“Yes.”
