Forgotten Wife Let the traitors kneel Down (by Patricia Maradiaga) novel Chapter 401

Crying Like a Little Girl

Vritra tightly squeezed Abril’s arm, and she felt that her arm would break at any moment if he kept squeezing so hard.

He shook her and asked her again.

Answer me, what the hell have you done to me?

Alessandro attacked Vritra, stabbing him in the back with his sword. His attack would have killed any human, but it did no more harm to Vritra than a needle prick would. Vritra threw Abril to the ground and turned around, with the sword still stuck in his back.

You’re a real pain.

Vritra spat with great disgust, pulled the sword from his back, and said.

I should give you a slow death. I think that will ease my anger a bit.

Alessandro resorted to using his fists since he no longer had his sword. He landed the first punch, but it achieved nothing. Vritra returned the blow, his strength was overwhelming, and Alessandro barely withstood the hit. But after five consecutive blows, he ended up falling to the ground. Abril, who was barely conscious a few steps away, tried to help Alessandro but couldn’t; she had exhausted all her magic.

Vritra relentlessly attacked Alessandro, not giving him a chance to counter. He didn’t stop until he left him halfdead, created a fireball in his hand, and said.

I’ll turn you to ashes, so you won’t get in my way again, worthless scum.

Abril panicked. She crawled over to where her father was, grabbed him by the leg, and said.

Let him go.”

With a kick, Vritra threw Abril far away and said.

Don’t interrupt me, you’ll be next.

At that moment, when she thought she would lose everything, Abril heard her mother’s voice.

My little girl, break the seal.”

Abril knew that if she broke the seal, she would lose her mother, but if she continued to refuse, she and Alessandro would die at the hands of her father. Her mother’s image suddenly appeared in front of her, she reached out as if to caress her, but couldn’t; her hand passed through her skin. With a gentle smile, she softly said.

My little girl, it’s time for you to let me go, live your life and be happy.

A tear rolled down Abril’s cheek. Sophia looked in the direction where Vritra was and said,

Save him too.

Abril didn’t quite understand what her mother meant, but she could no longer hesitate. She wished with all her heart for the seal blocking her magic to be released. In her mind, a golden door appeared and opened, and, like a river, she felt her magic flowing throughout her body. Before, her magic had been like a small puddle that dried up easily, but at that moment, her magic became an infinite ocean, with no limit. Abril stood up, her body engulfed in silver flames. Vritra turned, sensing an overwhelming power. Something in him made him tremble with fear.

His daughter, Abril, was behind him, enveloped in silver flames, that overwhelming power emanated from her. Although she was small and seemed like a porcelain doll that could break at any moment, Vritra couldn’t help but tremble before her; the darkness within him cried out for help. His whole being told him to fl but he couldn’t do it, his feet were rooted to the spot.

n Abril stood before her father, she raised her face with firmness and authority; there was no trace of ar or doubt on her face as she finished her chant.

Flames bring light and illuminate the darkness.

Upon finishing her chant, the silver flames that surrounded Abril’s body spread across the battlefield and reached the horizon where an army of monsters was located. The screams and cries of the monsters and some soldiers corrupted by darkness filled the air. Vritra fell to the ground and began to writhe; those flames that had previously caused him no harm were now destroying him.

Alessandro’s wounds healed, and he could feel how Abril’s magic healed every wound on his body and restored his strength. Seeing her, she appeared transformed; she looked like a goddess who had descended from the heavens. As the power flowed from Abril, Alessandro could see how all the chaos returned to order, the army of monsters turned to ashes. Vritra was the only one left alive, writhing like a leech on the ground.

Abril approached him; although her magic was powerful, it didn’t seem to be enough to defeat Vritra. She placed her hand on his face and said,

May the darkness in you disappear.

Those words seemed to have power because Vritra’s screams became even louder. Suddenly, he fell silent, and his body be

She heard Alessandro’s voice speaking to her, but her consciousness was elsewhere. She saw her mother

in front of her, her long blonde hair swayed gently in the breeze. Behind her, the sun began to set behind

the mountains, and beside her, holding her hand, stood her father. He looked at her with warm eyes; she

had never seen such an expression on her father’s face.

Mom.

Thank you for freeing us.

What?

Your father had been trapped by darkness. I couldn’t free him, but you could; you were the only one who

could. Thank you.

The image of her father said to her.

Forgive me, my child, for not taking care of you and for all the pain I caused you.”

This was the first time Abril heard sweet words from her father’s mouth, sincere words that showed

affection, and she started to cry.

He moved a little closer and said,

I have always loved you, my child. You can’t imagine how much I do, but the darkness within me prevented me from showing it to you. That darkness demanded your blood every time I saw you, that’s why I pushed you away, ignored you, and sent you far away. It was the only way I could protect you. Forgive this useless father who couldn’t take proper care of you.

Abril knew her father’s spirit wasn’t lying, and her tears turned to tears of happiness. She had always thought she wasn’t loved by her father, that she never had been, but hearing that it was the opposite, that he loved her so much he did everything he could to protect her, made her happy.

They both embraced her. Though they didn’t have physical bodies, she could feel the warmth of their

embrace.

I hope you find happiness, Abril, my little one, and that, from now on, your life will be filled with only joy, said her father as he hugged her. Sophia said to her,

Even if you can’t see us, we’ll always be watching over you.”

Abril couldn’t articulate a word, she just kept crying like a little girl in her parentsarms.

They both kissed her on the cheek.

We must go, but remember that you will never be alone, Aby,said her mother, as both bid farewell with warm smiles, and they began to turn into small specks of light until they completely disappeared, ascending to the heavens.

At that moment, Abril realized she was in Alessandro’s arms. He was calling her frantically, but she couldn’t answer, losing consciousness while watching the sky filled with the colors of the sunset and the

Abril woke up with a severe headache. The light entering the room bothered her, so she used her hand to block it from her eyes. The door opened, and she immediately heard Alessandro’s voice as he hurried to her side, wrapped his arms around her, and said with a broken voice, Thank goodness you’re awake

Alessandro was hugging her tightly, and Abril felt she would be crushed if he didn’t let go.

Lessan, you’ll make me faint if you keep hugging me so tightly.”

Alessandro loosened his embrace but didn’t release her; he was trembling slightly, and Abril asked, What happened? Did we win?

Yes.

That’s good, as it’s finally over.”

Abril replied somewhat sadly, knowing the victory came at a high cost; she had lost her mother and her

father, who, deep down, did love her.

Alessandro released her from his embrace. Earlier, she couldn’t see him well because her eyes hadn’t

adjusted to the light. Now, she noticed Alessandro looked pale and haggard, with a beard as if he hadn’t

shaved in days. Abril felt confused; after the battle, she had fainted, but how long had she been

unconscious? That was something she didn’t know. She looked around and realized she was back in the

royal palace.

Lessan, how long have I been unconscious?

It’s been 15 days, and you hadn’t woken up. I was…”

The words got caught in Alessandro’s throat; he had stayed by her side for 15 days, waiting for her to wake up. During that time, he hadn’t eaten properly and slept very little; throughout the time she had been

asleep, he hadn’t stopped praying to God for her to wake up.

He hugged her again and said, I thought I had lost you.

Abril was shocked to learn she had been unconscious for 15 days, but quickly realized how much Alessandro must have suffered during that time. She returned the hug and said, I’m sorry, you must

have

There’s nothing for you to apologize for.”

Abril didn’t know what to say to calm Alessandro’s anxious heart. So she simply held him close for a while.

Once Alessandro had calmed down a bit, he realized Abril hadn’t eaten in fifteen days. He released her

and said,

You must be hungry, I’ll get them to bring you something light to eat.”

Abril wasn’t aware of her hunger until Alessandro mentioned it.

Alessandro peeked out the door and called for the maids, who were nearby. That was an order Alessandro had given when he returned to the palace; he wanted some maids to stay close, waiting for Abril to wake up. He announced that his wife had woken up. All the maids rejoiced and thanked the heavens for the queen’s awakening; Alessandro asked them to inform his brother and to fetch something light for his wife

to eat, and also to call the doctor to check on her.

When Alessandro returned to the room, Abril hit him with a barrage of questions about the war.

Are Maya and Cassian okay? How did the war end? Were all the monsters destroyed or are there more?

What will happen to the kingdom of Laios?

Calm down, if you hit me with so many questions at once, I won’t know where to start. Besides, right now

you should only worry about yourself, about recovering.

I’m fine, I just want to catch up, I want to know what happened during these fifteen days I’ve been asleep.
