Abril approached, took his hand, and infused her magic into him. All the tiredness and fatigue he had disappeared in an instant. He asked her,
“Why is Maya still unwell if you’ve done the same with her?”
“What?”
“She should be fine after you used your magic on her, but she still looks pale and weak.”
“Maya is half–fairy, so maybe my magic works differently on her.”
“Maybe you’re right.”
“You should go to her.”
“Aby, Lessan told me you’re going to the kingdom of Laios to close the Hades rift.”
“Yes, I had been postponing it, but it’s dangerous to leave it like that.”
“Still no news about your sister?”
“No, I asked Enzo, but he says he doesn’t know anything about Cira either.”
“And do you believe him?”
“I don’t think he’s lying. Knowing Cira, she’ll want to kill him when she sees him.”
“It’s been over a year since she disappeared. She was badly injured. Do you think she might be dead?”
Abril remembered the creature that had tried to attack Lissana a month ago. It was a creature born of darkness, undoubtedly sent by Cira. She replied,
“I don’t think so. Cira must be waiting for the right moment to attack. That’s why I want to close the rift leading to Hades. I won’t let her gain more power.”
“Lessan asked me to accompany you, but…”
“You can’t go, right?”
“I don’t want to be separated from Maya.”
“Don’t worry, I understand.”

“Actually, I would have liked to accompany you.”
“In fact, I prefer that you stay in the palace, and take care of Lissana while I’m not there.”
“Don’t worry, I will do that.”
“See you later, Cassian.”
Abril headed to Alessandro’s office, and as she approached the door, the guards bowed. She greeted them
and asked, “Is Alessandro inside?”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Thank you.”
Abril peeked her head through the door, and upon seeing that Alessandro was not alone, she asked, “Can I
come in?”
“Yes, you arrived at a good time.”
Abril entered, and the person who was with Alessandro bowed and introduced himself.
“Greetings. I present myself to Her Majesty the Queen, Taren Lacross, captain of the Shadows in service to the king.”
“Nice to meet you, Taren.”
Alessandro walked around his desk, stood beside Abril, and told her, “Cassian won’t be able to accompany you on your journey, so I asked Taren to do it. His skills are similar to Cassian’s.”
“Then I count on you to undertake this journey,” Abril said as she turned to Taren.
“We can leave whenever Your Majesty wants.”
“Then we will leave tomorrow.”
“As Your Majesty wishes, I will prepare to leave. I take my leave.”
When Taren left, Abril said to Alessandro, “You could send a message to Sirius. I no longer want to delay my departure.”
“Of course.”
“Have you treated Maya?”
“Yes, I have.”
“And how is she?”
Abril didn’t want to discuss Maya’s condition. It was something that Maya had told her in secret, and she didn’t want to betray her trust.
“Better.”

“Cassian was very worried about her. I hope she recovers soon.”
“Me too.”
Alessandro hugged her, leaned in, and kissed her. Abril actively returned the kiss. As they parted their lips, Alessandro brushed aside a reddish lock of Abril’s hair, tucking it behind her ear. Looking at her tenderly, he said to her, “Take care on your trip. Don’t do anything reckless.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
Abril stood on her tiptoes, gave him a gentle kiss on the lips, and said to him, “I won’t risk my life knowing that my family is waiting for me. I’ll come back to you as soon as I can.”

Part II: What Bodies Scream
Abril spent some time talking with Alessandro about his trip to the kingdom of Laios. Afterwards, Abril went to see Lissana, and upon entering the room, she felt a strong wind. The servant who was taking care of Lissana was desperately trying to close the balcony. That wind was not natural; it was Lissana who had created it with her magic. Abril used her cancellation magic to calm the winds. She approached the crib, and the baby smiled when she saw her mother. Abril took Lissana in her arms and kissed her cheeks, sighing deeply as she said, “What am I going to do with you, my little troublemaker?”
The servant closed the balcony and, upon seeing the queen, attempted to apologize.
“Your Majesty, a strong wind suddenly started blowing. Is the princess alright?”
“Yes, she is fine. Do not worry, you may leave. I will stay with Lissana.”
