The awakening of magic

When Sirius arrived and saw Alessandro deeply affected, he approached him and asked, How is she?

She still hasn’t woken up.

Sirius was about to touch Abril, but Alessandro stopped him and said, Don’t do it. Her magic went

out of control when Cassian touched her.

That’s why you’re wearing gloves.

Yes, although her magic is still overflowing.

Why do you say that? Everyone who enters this room leaves revitalized. Her magic is spreading even more. Just being near the door for a few minutes makes them feel better, all their fatigue,

tiredness, and pain disappear.

Sirius also felt better upon entering the room. To get there, he had to use several scrolls and a large amount of magic, but at that moment, he felt as good as new. He couldn’t even remember

the last time he had felt so well.

Sirius put on a pair of gloves and began examining the princess. Her magic seemed to have increased; it was as if her almost nonexistent power suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

How is she?

Her magic has increased.

I’ve already noticed that.

I’m not talking about that. Her magic was almost imperceptible before. I even doubted she possessed any magic. However, now her mana is strong, as if her dormant magic had awakened.

What?

It’s like when magic awakens in a child, but much stronger. Her magic seems to have awakened, although out of control. She has too much magic; her body doesn’t seem capable of containing it. Her magic is too much for her.

I don’t know. We can only wait for her magic to stabilize.

And if it doesn’t?

I don’t know how much magic the princess possesses, but if she completely exhausts her mana, I don’t think she’ll survive. Mana is like life for a mage.

The awakening of magic

I exhausted my mana, and I’m fine.

Your Majesty is an exception in many things. Your vital force is stronger than your mana. You can live perfectly well even if you lost all your magic, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the

princess.

And you want me to just watch as her life drains away?

I don’t think there’s anything else we can do, other than wait for her to wake up.”

Abril slept for three days. During that time, Alessandro stayed by her side, holding her hand and waiting for her to wake up. Cassian, seeing his brother so desolate and downcast, wondered how his brother could be so oblivious to the fact that he had already fallen in love with the princess.

Cassian approached his brother, put a hand on his shoulder, and said, You should rest a bit, you

haven’t slept in three days.

I’m fine.

Lessan.”

I’ll stay by her side until she wakes up, Cassian. Besides, I don’t think I could sleep anyway.”

Cassian knew it was useless to insist that he go rest, so he decided it was best to leave him alone. Alessandro continued to look at his wife’s sleeping face, wishing she would wake up.

Abril, wake up, please.

Alessandro saw a small light shining on Abril’s ears. He brushed her hair aside and saw she had red teardropshaped earrings. He was sure she hadn’t had anything on a few minutes ago. He wondered where they had come from. He was distracted looking at the earrings and didn’t notice when Abril woke up until he felt her hand touching his arm.

Alessandro couldn’t believe she had woken up. Overjoyed, he hugged her, forgetting that he couldn’t touch her, but immediately remembered and pulled away. He caressed her cheek with his gloved hand and asked, Are you alright?

Yes.

Abril tried to sit up, but Alessandro stopped her and said, Don’t move, you might get dizzy.

I’m fine.

Abril insisted, she sat up in the bed, but ended up getting dizzy just as Alessandro had said.

I told you, you’re not alright.

Abril saw that it was morning; the warm morning light filtered through the windows.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. I ended up sleeping through the

whole night.

You’ve been sleeping for three days.

Three days?!

I thought you wouldn’t wake up.

Abril felt a sharp headache, and suddenly the memories of everything that had happened while she was asleep came rushing back, the time she had spent in the darkness and her encounter with her

mother.

Alessandro took her by the shoulders and asked, Are you alright? Does anything hurt?

Abril could see genuine concern in Alessandro’s eyes. She stretched out her hand and touched his cheek. He quickly pulled his hand away and said, No, it’s dangerous.

Abril knew exactly what Alessandro was referring to. She touched his face again and said, It’s not, not anymore. My magic is no longer out of control.

Alessandro’s eyes widened. Abril caressed his cheek and said, You knew I possessed magic, didn’t you? That’s why you wanted me to learn the concepts of magic.

Did you know you had magic?

Abril shook her head. I didn’t know. While I was asleep, my mother told me.

Your mother?

I know it seems unbelievable, but I dreamed of her, and she told me my magic was out of control.

Abril brushed her hair aside, showing her ears, and said, She gave me these. She said they would limit my magic until I learn to control it.

Are you upset because I didn’t tell you?

No, if you didn’t, it was for a reason, right?

Yes.

Abril’s stomach growled, and she said, I’m starving. Could you ask for something to eat?

Yes, I’ll do it right away.

When Alessandro left the room, he saw his brother by the door and said, Abril has woken up.

Cassian felt great relief knowing the princess had finally woken from her long sleep and asked, Can I go in?

Of course, I’ll go ask for something to eat for her and ask Sirius to come check on her.

Has her magic stopped overflowing?

Yes, I don’t know exactly how, but she’s fine.

Alessandro continued walking, and Cassian knocked on the door with his knuckles and asked, Can

I come in?

Come in.

Upon entering, Cassian stood by the door for a few minutes, looking at the princess sitting on the bed. He asked, How are you?

Hungry, but fine.

Cassian finished entering, and as he walked towards her, Abril noticed that Cassian was no longer limping. She said, Your leg seems to be fine.

Yes, I think my leg is fine now.

I’m glad to hear that.

I’m glad to know you’ve woken up and are well. We were all very worried about you. Lessan didn’t leave your side for a moment, he wanted to be there when you woke up.

I’m sorry for making you all worry.

That doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you’re alright now.
