Chapter 532
The three of them spent nearly two hours over the meal.
Afterward, Benjamin wanted to introduce Maggie to a few other people in charge of related projects, so they changed locations.
Once they arrived at the new venue, Franklin still sat beside her.
Whether it was because Franklin and Benjamin were both exceptionally courteous to her, or because word had already spread in the inc about her capabilities, the other project leads were equally polite when meeting her.
The conversations went smoothly and pleasantly.
As dusk approached, Franklin’s phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, then at Maggie, before answering. “Isabella, what’s wrong?”
Maggie hadn’t been paying attention to who he was on the phone with. But when she heard the name Isabella, her hand paused slightly as lifted her teacup.
Isabella was currently in Franklin’s room.
She had turned the entire place upside down.
Holding her phone, eyes red, she asked, “Where’s your marriage certificate with Mom? I searched both your room and Mom’s room and cot find it. You–you didn’t secretly divorce her without telling me, did you?!”
Franklin’s gaze darkened a little. He didn’t ask why she suddenly brought this up. Instead, he replied calmly, unhurried, “No. The certificate with your mom. If you want to know exactly where it is, why don’t you call her and ask?”
When Isabella couldn’t find their marriage certificate, she had truly believed they’d divorced behind her back. Her eyes had instantly filled v
tears.
Hearing Franklin say this, she finally relaxed a bit. She wiped her eyes and asked, “Really?”
Franklin laughed softly. “Why would Dad lie to you? Whether it’s true or not, you’ll know once you ask your mom.”
Isabella huffed, said nothing more, and hung up.
After ending the call, Franklin glanced in Maggie’s direction.
Maggie didn’t know exactly what Isabella had said to him, but from Franklin’s responses, she could already guess most of it.
Just then, her own phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Maggie stood up calmly and said to the others, “Sorry, I need to step out to take a call.”
Everyone except Benjamin knew Franklin had been married and had a daughter.
As for Maggie, they all assumed she and Johnny were dating and unmarried. None of them thought that the call coming in at this moment had anything to do with Franklin.
Maggie walked out into the hallway before answering.
The moment she picked up, Isabella’s voice rushed out. “Mom, Dad said your marriage certificate is with you. Is that true? Where did you put it?

At Great–Grandma’s place?”
“Yes,” Maggie replied.
