Maggie understood very clearly why things had turned out this way.

She sat there for a long time, silent.

The next day, she personally took Isabella to school before heading back to work.

That afternoon, when it was time for Isabella to get out of school, Maggie pick up her phone and called her.

Isabella was delighted to hear from her. “Mom! What’s up?”

“Nothing much. Just wanted to call you. Are you coming back to your great grandma’s later? I’ll have them make more of your favorite dishes.”

After chatting with her a bit more, Maggie hung up.

Isabella didn’t know why Maggie had suddenly called her, but she was still very happy that her mom had reached out on her own.

She thought it was just a one–off.

Maggie knew that father and daughter talked on the phone every day.
