Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time (by Zora Pradeep) novel Chapter 538

Chapter 538

Near the end of the workday, Maggie’s phone rang,

This time, it was a message from Nolan.

Monday, 2 a.m. Get ready.

Seeing Nolan’s message didn’t surprise Maggie at all.

After the last round of work at the base wrapped up, she already knew she’d be heading back there again soon.

After replying to Nolan, she thought of the divorce with Franklin. Wanting to speed things up, she briefly updated him on her schedule.

I’ll be on a business trip too these next few days. Should be about a week.

If she came back before the thirtyday coolingoff period ended, and if Franklin could make it back as well, they could still reissue the marriage certificate and finalize the divorce in time.

Franklin had been busy lately. She assumed he wouldn’t reply until the next day.

Unexpectedly, his response came almost immediately.

Okay. I know.

He didn’t mention a single word about when he’d be back in the U.S.

After that, there were no more messages.

Early Monday morning, Maggie went to the base.

Just as she’d expected, she wrapped up most of the work there within a week. However, something unexpected came up at the base, and she ended up staying an extra three or four days.

When she finally returned from the base to the city, she realized Franklin had sent her several messages.

The earliest one was from a week ago.

I’m back in the U.S.

She hadn’t replied. Franklin didn’t contact her again over the next two days.

Then, three days ago, he sent another message.

I’m heading to Los Angeles tomorrow for a business trip.

The most recent message was from yesterday.

I’m going to Dallas at noon tomorrow.

After reading them, Maggie took a deep breath.

Tomorrow was the last day of their cooling off period.

She didn’t reply to the messages. Instead, she called Franklin directly.

But when she dialed, his phone was powered off.

It looked like he hadn’t landed yet

Maggie rubbed her templex and explained what had happened.

While Maggie was at the base, Johnny had been handling her work

Because of that, he’d run into Franklin twice over the past few days.

He said. Tranklin came back to the US, a week ago. Did you know? But he’s been swamped with other projects again. I had dinner with him and a few others recently. From what I heard him talking about, he’ll basically be flying over the world nonstop until before the New Year. He’s insanely busy

Maggie lowered her gare and replied flatly, Is that so?

TeahJohnny clicked his tongue. The number of projects he has on his plates honestly kind of insane. Even I was shocked just listening to it.

Maggie didn’t say anything.

Truth be told, ever since she could remember Franklin, since her early teens, he’d always been busy.

Whether it was school or work afterward, he spent most of the year flying all over the world. The time he actually stayed in New York wasn’t that

much

The reason he’d been in New York so often this year, thinking about it now, seemed to be because of Julia.

Because Julia had come to New York

So this year, unlike the past decade, he hadn’t been constantly on the move, rarely coming home.

But Maggie didn’t say any of that to Johnny.
