Chapter 539
The next morning, Maggie finally received a reply from Franklin.
“Sorry, I just saw your missed call. I have something Important to take care of tomorrow, the divorce stuff will have to wait for another time.”
Reading his message, Maggie couldn’t bring herself to blame him. After all, this time, she too had missed an opportunity to go pick up the divorce pape all because of her own matters.
She didn’t reply.
That evening, Maggie and Johnny attended a dinner.
Julia, Harry, and the others were all there too.
After a while, Harry found an opening and came over to greet her.
“Good evening.”
Maggie nodded, “It’s been a while.”
“Yeah, it really has.” Harry’s eyes lingered on her face. “Been busy? Didn’t sleep well?”
Maggie nodded, “Yeah, a little busy.”
Harry knew about her divorce with Franklin. He was aware that today was supposed to be the final day for them to decide. In other words, Maggie and Franklin were still married. They hadn’t been able to finalize the divorce yet.
He hadn’t been hanging out with Franklin or Julia much lately, so he wasn’t as up–to–date with their situation. Plus, Franklin used to fly all over the world all year long, so the fact that Franklin had been out of the country for the last two or three months didn’t seem too strange to him.
He said, “Levi told me Franklin might not be back for a few more days.”
When Franklin’s name came up, Maggie’s tone grew distant, and she simply muttered a soft, “Mm.”
Harry didn’t push the subject any further. Just then, Johnny returned, and the three of them chatted for a bit before Harry had to leave to attend to something
else.
ulia, Logan, and the others were still there. Though Maggie wasn’t paying them much attention, they were keeping a close eye on her.
Seeing how close she and Johnny were, Sophia couldn’t hide her irritation. “She and Johnny get along so well, but she’s still hanging on to her brother–in–law?
No shame!”
ulia and Janice stayed quiet, throwing a glance at Sophia, signaling her to keep it down.
ately, Julia, Janice, and Logan had all been in bad moods.
Not only was the divorce between Franklin and Maggie still not finalized, but also, after Franklin had gone on a business trip to A country half a month ago, he had never once taken the initiative to contact Julia.
Even when he came back to the U.S. a while ago, he still didn’t reach out to her.
If he was busy, fine, but he always seemed to find time for Isabella…
At this point, it didn’t matter whether Franklin and Maggie were officially divorced or not, or what the reasons were. What was clear was that Franklin wasn’t as invested in Julia anymore. He was starting to distance himself.
Maggie didn’t know about all this.
