Maggie and Isabella had breakfast together and were just about to head out when they heard the sound of a car pulling up outside.

Franklin tad arrived.

Isabella happily ran out. “Dad, you’re here!”

“Mm.” Franklin nodded at Maggie. “Good morning, ready to head out?”

Maggie didn’t say much. She just got in the car with Isabella.

In the car, things were still a bit awkward since the unpleasant situation when Maggie had left the house the other day. Neither Maggie nor Franklin said much.

When they arrived at school and got out of the car, Isabella took Maggie’s hand and led her toward the classroom. Franklin silently walked beside Maggie on her left.

The sun was nice today, but the wind was a little strong. Maggie pulled her coat tighter around her neck.

Franklin turned his head toward her. “Cold? There’s-”

Maggie softly replied, “I’m fine, not cold.”

She wasn’t forcing herself; she genuinely didn’t feel cold.

Franklin silently looked at her for a moment, then, seeing that she really wasn’t cold, he didn’t say anything more.

Isabella led the way into the classroom, and when the teacher saw her with Maggie, she assumed it was just them and paused for a moment.

But before she could say anything, Franklin walked in as well.

Seeing Franklin, the teacher smiled and greeted them both, “Mr. and Mrs. Isabella, Isabella’s seat is here. Please, follow me.”

Maggie and Franklin nodded, and just as they sat down, a little student came over to talk to Isabella, staring curiously at Franklin and Maggie.

“Isabella, is this your mom and dad? Your dad is so handsome, and your mom is so pretty. Wait, are you sure your mom and dad aren’t divorced?”

Isabella lifted her chin proudly. “Of course not. My mom and dad are fine. They’re not divorced.”

Before the parent–teacher meeting officially began, Isabella ran off to play with her classmates.

Maggie watched Isabella’s retreating figure. Just as she turned her attention back, she noticed Franklin was watching her.

She paused for a moment at his gaze, but before she could react, Tommy’s mom saw Maggie and came over to greet her.

It had been a while since they’d seen each other, so they chatted for a bit before finally stopping.

Then, Tommy’s mom awkwardly nodded at Franklin, greeting him.

Franklin politely returned the gesture. “Hello.”

Soon after, the parent–teacher meeting officially started.

Once the meeting concluded, the teacher walked over to Maggie and Franklin After hesitating for a moment, she spoke, “Isabella’s been a bit down lately, and I heard it’s related to issues between you two…”
