Chapter 631: You Will Never Be Welcome Here
Monday.
After dropping Isabella off at school, Maggie headed out to meet with Benjamin and the others.
By the time she and Glen arrived. Franklin was already there.
He spotted them and said hello, perfectly polite.
Over the next few days they ran into each other twice more, but it was all business. Nothing beyond that.
Felix had been recovering well, and by Saturday, he was cleared to go home.
Old Mrs. Wilson was over the moon. She went to the hospital herself to bring him home.
But the moment she pushed open the door to his room, there was Julia.
Franklin and Julia had just arrived too. Julia held out a bouquet of flowers with a warm smile. “Uncle Wilson, congratulations on being discharged. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Felix didn’t have any particular fondness for Julia.
But his son did, and there wasn’t much he could do about that.
From the accident to now, he’d been in the hospital for nearly two weeks. Julia hadn’t shown up once during that time, and Felix had a pretty
good idea why. His mother had probably made it very clear she wasn’t welcome.
And yet here she was anyway, on the day he was finally getting out, clearly brought along by Franklin knowing full well how his mother felt. Given all that, Felix accepted the flowers with a mild smile and said, “Thank you.”
That was when Franklin and Julia both noticed Old Mrs. Wilson stepping through the door.
Her face was ice cold. She looked straight at Julia. “Who said you could come?”
Julia stood next to Franklin, dropped her head, and let out a stiff little laugh. She didn’t say anything.
Old Mrs. Wilson pressed her lips together and shifted her gaze to Franklin, fury building. She was just about to let him have it when Felix, worried things were about to blow up, gave a soft cough. “Mom, everything’s pretty much packed up. Why don’t we head home?”
Today was a good day. Felix was going home.
Old Mrs. Wilson didn’t want to ruin it by getting into it with Franklin right here. That was just asking for bad energy.
She swallowed her temper and nodded. “Fine.”
Stella’s injuries had healed up considerably, and she went over to help Felix toward the door.
Franklin moved to take Old Mrs. Wilson’s arm, but the moment his hand made contact she shook him off.
“Still that upset?” Franklin said.
Old Mrs. Wilson knew exactly what he was doing. Trying to break the tension, give them both a way to ease up a little.
And more than that, nudging her to make peace with reality.
Mr. CEO, Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time
Chapter 631: You Will Never Be Welcome Here
She glanced back at Julia, who was following along and turned to Franklin with her lips pressed fight. You’re not seriously thinking about bringing her back to the house with us? I’m telling you right now. I won’t
Franklin looked at Old Mrs. Wilson like he was working up to something, maybe trying to find the words to get her to give tha a chance Bur Julia stepped in first.
“Mrs. Wilson. she said, calm and composed. “I just came to see how Uncle Wilson was doing. I’ve got things to take care of after this. I come visit you and Uncle Wilson at home another time when things settle down.”
Old Mrs. Wilson wasn’t fooled for a second. The girl was playing it smart, stepping back so Franklin wouldn’t be stuck in the middle.
