Lillian said, “Why would she want to see me? I’m standing in her daughter’s way. If she saw me right now, wouldn’t it just piss her off even more?”
Marcus and Iris both went quiet.
At the words “standing in her daughter’s way“, even Julian’s expression flickered.
He knew exactly what Margaret and the whole Graves Pack had been plotting ever since Ethan died.
But hearing Lillian say it so bluntly still hit different. His grip on her hand tightened without him meaning to.
Lillian raised an eyebrow at Marcus. “I literally just sent someone to the hospital today because I lost my temper. Someone like me? Probably shouldn’t be meeting with your Alpha.”
Marcus stiffened even more.
Lillian kept going. “Anyway, my life’s about as worthless as a stray dog’s. There’s nothing I could actually do to help Alpha Margaret with anything.”
Yesterday, Margaret had called her a stray dog to her face.
And now she wanted to bury the hatchet?
“Having an Omega who’s lower than a stray dog in her presence would be beneath Alpha Margaret’s dignity, wouldn’t it, Marcus?”
Marcus‘ face went pale, then flushed bright red at her words. He knew Margaret could be vicious with her tongue when she wasn’t the one asking for favors–she never left anyone a way out.
But karma had never really caught up with her before, so over the years, she’d gotten used to saying whatever she wanted, doing whatever she wanted, consequences be damned.
No one ever thought she’d trip this hard.
Lillian was done talking. After dropping those words, a cold, mocking smile tugged at her lips. She shook off Julian’s hand and started walking.
She’d made it two steps when Julian caught up and grabbed her hand again.
Marcus opened his mouth, about to say something.
But Julian shot him a warning look over his shoulder.
Whatever Marcus had been about to say died in his throat.
Julian led Lillian away.
Back in the hospital, the whole group was practically fuming themselves into early graves. Eleanor’s chest was tight with anger, and Hilda looked like she was about to explode.

Chapter 108 Denying the Alpha
After Julian left, Hilda couldn’t stop complaining.
“I don’t get it. What is Julian thinking? I thought he was into Omegas who were actually obedient?”
It was infuriating.
If they were talking about obedient–Lillian had never really been that. If she were actually obedient, she wouldn’t have talked Julian into moving out in the first place. And she wouldn’t have taken over that house at Inkwood Gardens either.
Eleanor was already irritated enough, and Hilda going on and on about Lillian just made it worse. “Enough. Drop it.”
Hilda muttered, “I’m just saying. Iris is so much better than her.”
Speaking of Iris, she’d gone to Margaret’s room.
The fact that Margaret had also ended up in the hospital because of Lillian only made Eleanor’s mood darker.
She’d really thought that with Margaret back from the Western Continent, Lillian would finally get what was coming to her.
Instead, they’d taken another hit.
Lillian was still standing, and they were the ones falling apart.
Inside Margaret’s hospital room.
When she saw Marcus walk in alone, without Lillian, her bruised face twisted even further.
“What happened?” Margaret demanded. “I told you to bring her here.”
Bring, meaning invite.
It said something that over the years, Margaret only ever used the word “invite” for her most valuable business partners. This time, she was genuinely out of options.
She’d told Marcus to handle it carefully, to talk to Lillian properly. And he couldn’t even get her here?
Marcus said, “Lillian refused to see you. And honestly? Her attitude wasn’t great.”
Margaret snapped back, “I don’t care what her attitude was. You should’ve brought her to my room anyway.”
“She wasn’t coming, no matter what I said.” Marcus‘ voice held a note of helplessness.
Margaret went silent.
Her chest tightened even more. Breathing felt hard.
If she couldn’t even see Lillian, what the hell was she supposed to do now?
Marcus added, “She kept bringing up what you said yesterday. About her being a stray dog.”
Margaret’s face went still,

Chapter 108 Denying the Alpha
Right. Yesterday, she’d said if Lillian died, it’d be no different from a stray dog dying.
So this was payback, then.
“She won’t see me?”
Even with her lowering herself, practically begging–she still won’t come?
Fine.
Now she couldn’t even find a way to ask for help.
