Lillian said, “He’s lost his damn mind.”
Chloe asked, “Because Finn gave you a ride yesterday? He didn’t bother coming to get you himself, and now he’s pissed that someone else did?
“Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people?”
On this one, Lillian genuinely felt bad for Finn.
Chloe thought Julian was acting unbelievably possessive and unreasonable.
Lillian continued, “The entire Graves Pack, Margaret included, just got publicly humiliated. He’s not exactly thrilled about it.”
When she put it that way, yeah, the last few days had been more than a little intense.
“I heard the Graves Pack’s elders–even the grand elders–are demanding Iris be removed as VP. You think Julian will still pro her this time?”
If Julian protected Iris, well, he really did protect her.
Ever since Ethan died, the way he’d looked after Iris… If one didn’t know better, they’d think she was his actual mate.
f Lillian hadn’t exposed their bond this time, Julian probably would’ve gone along with whatever the Graves Pack wanted and taken Iris in eventually.
Thinking about Lillian’s request to dissolve the mate bond, Chloe couldn’t stop herself from asking, “Why didn’t you just wait! after the bond was broken to expose everything?”
Lillian blinked.
At the time, she’d been so furious she hadn’t even considered that.
She’d just thought–if Iris wanted to end up with Julian while keeping her precious reputation intact, there was no way Lillian w letting that slide.
Now that Chloe mentioned it, Lillian felt her brain short–circuit.
“Right… why didn’t I just wait until the mate bond was dissolved before exposing them?”
God, she was so pissed at herself.
Back then, Julian and Iris had genuinely driven her crazy, especially with Iris constantly provoking her.
Chloe also figured that taking Iris down could’ve happened anytime. Why do it while still mated?
Now everything was a mess–Julian was absolutely refusing to break the bond, and he’d dragged in in it too
The whole situation was a complete tangle.
“Whatever, I’m still trying to figure out how to make it up to Finn.
Finn had never asked to be part of any of this, and now he was caught night in the middle
Chloe asked, “How else can you make it up? Take him out to eat or something”

Lillian said, “You think Finn needs me to buy him a meal?”
Chloe continued, “It’s the polite thing to do–a thank you.”
Need? What could Finn possibly be lacking?
Never mind the Livingston Pack running under him–even the businesses out west were thriving before he’d even come back.
Someone like that–what could he possibly be short of?
Chloe finished breakfast and headed out.
She said she’d come back tonight to keep Lillian company.
Right after she left, Lillian thought it over and decided to call Finn.
He picked up almost immediately. “Lillian.”
His low voice carried a gentle warmth.
Lillian said, “Julian’s probably on his way to find you again.”
Finn kept quiet.
‘Um, are you free for lunch? Let me take you out.”
‘You shouldn’t be going out much in your condition, right?”
Finn knew exactly what shape Lillian was in right now.
Lillian said, “Come to Starfall Mountain. Actually–come now.”
Julian was already heading to Finn.
f Finn wasn’t there, maybe it’d stop them from crossing paths.
On the other end of the line, Finn smiled slightly when he heard her words. “Alright.”
He knew Lillian wanted him to steer clear of Julian, and he didn’t argue.
The call ended,
Paul walked in and caught the soft smile still on Finn’s lips–for a second, he just stood there fragen,
When had Finn ever learned to smile like that?
