Chapter 145 Tension
Third–Person POV:
Hilda whined, “Eleanor, would you look at her?”
With no way to handle Lillian herself, Hilda turned straight to Eleanor.
Eleanor’s temples were pounding with fury. “Enough. What’s there to look at?”
Right now, the last thing she wanted was to see Lillian’s face.
Her words cut deep, like the sting of a hornet.
Hilda stomped her foot in frustration and shot Lillian a vicious glare.
For Lillian at the moment, rest was what she needed most.

She hadn’t been standing long before she started feeling worn out, so she simply found a seat and sat down.
Not far away, Julian’s voice drifted over. “So it has to be Dr. Gareth? No one else?”
James.
His people had just flown to the Western Continent to request a meeting, but they’d hit a wall.
The legendary James was known for having a notoriously difficult personality.
Julian had always thought–no matter how odd a doctor’s temperament, would he really ignore a patient’s life or death?
But this time, when his people couldn’t even get a meeting, Julian realized this man’s issues went way beyond a difficult personality.
Christopher spoke with Julian for a long while.
When Julian finally walked back, his expression was carved from stone.
Iris stepped forward, instinctively reaching for Julian’s sleeve. “Ethan, what did he say?”
The moment “Ethan” left her mouth, Lillian caught the shift in Eleanor’s expression.
It wasn’t the approving look Iris used to get.

For that reason alone, Eleanor couldn’t agree to anymore. What would people say?
Iris had just been thrilled that Lillian was locked up and couldn’t gerom
Now, because of Julian, her face was etched with worry again.
Eleanor patted her hand. “But we should all be grateful Lillian won’t be making it out of there
alive this time.
Iris hesitated, “You really think so?”
Right. Lillian wouldn’t make it out alive. As long as she died in there, there was still a chance for her and Julian. She didn’t need to rush.
Iris lowered her head and asked nervously, “She, she really won’t make it out?”
After all, Julian had always protected Lillian before.
No matter what trouble she caused, he had always found a way to forgive her. Why would this time be any different?
Eleanor said with confidence, “Of course she won’t. Daring to poison Julian–even if he’s the most forgiving Alpha, there’s no way he’d let an Omega who tried to kill him stay by his side.
Hearing this, Iris finally fully relaxed.
It was good that she wouldn’t make it out. As long as Lillian died, she and Julian could slowly find their chance,
If Lillian got out, any hope with Julian would be gone for good.
To make absolutely sure, Eleanor decided to call Hilda again, to tell the people inside to move faster and hit harder.
But just as she dialed, Hilda walked into the hospital room.
Seeing Hilda enter, and the completely defeated look on her face, Eleanor assumed it was because of how Finn had treated her earlier–the humiliation still fresh.
Eleanor said, “There’ll be other chances with Finn. For now, let’s focus on Lillian first.

Especially now, with Margaret’s situation in the Western Continent still completely up in the
air.
Eleanor pressed. “Can he be found?”
After all, this was her grandchild. Even if she wasn’t thrilled with Iris‘ behavior right now, this was still her son’s pup. She genuinely didn’t want anything to happen to the pup.
Julian’s voice was low. “I’ve already sent people to make contact.”
With that, he walked straight to Lillian’s side.
She was clearly worn out from everything earlier, exhaustion written all over her face.
Julian grabbed her hand and pulled her up from the chair. “Let’s go.”
Eleanor’s temper flared instantly. “Where are you going now? The pup’s still in there–we haven’t heard anything yet.”
Seeing Julian about to leave with Lillian again, Eleanor’s voice went shrill.
Leave, leave–why did he always have to leave?
Julian didn’t even glance back. “What good would staying do? You think I can treat patients or something?”
Eleanor shook with rage. “You… At least if you stay, there’s someone to make decisions if something comes up.”
“You’re the grandmother. You can’t make decisions?”
Eleanor was too furious to speak. “You-!”
This brat.
What was he doing now? Just because this woman was tired, he was going to abandon his own nephew?
Eleanor opened her mouth to say more.
But Julian already had Lillian’s hand and was heading out. Iris started crying openly now, her sobs raw and desperate.
Hearing that only made Eleanor more furious. “The pup’s not well, Iris is falling apart, now you’re throwing a tantrum about leaving too.”
