Chapter 156 Accused
Chapter 156 Accused
Third–Person POV:
They were so used to throwing their weight around, weren’t they?
Even when it came to a missing pup, they still refused to humble themselves.
Lillian’s tone was flat. “Why are you panicking? If your pup’s gone, go look for her. What do you want from me?”
She couldn’t care less what Iris had lost–right now, Lillian wasn’t in the mood to be polite.
Iris only grew more frantic. “You took her! Where did you hide my daughter?”
Her voice trembled with rage. “Listen to me, Lillian. If anything happens to my girl, I’ll make sure you pay for it.”
Finally, Lillian understood. Iris‘ daughter was missing.
She had to admit, her pups had been nothing but trouble from the start.
The boy would need James if he stood any chance of surviving, and now the healthy girl had vanished.
“You won’t get my life,” Lillian replied coolly. “If you want your daughter to live, you’d better stop wasting time with me and go find her.”
Then she simply hung up.
Seriously, everyone had lost their minds.
These days, every little thing was being pinned on her.
No sooner had she ended the call than Eleanor rang again. “Lillian, we… we may have been wrong earlier. Just tell me–where did you take the pup?”
The panic in Eleanor’s voice was palpable. Her tone was uncharacteristically soft, almost pleading, a far cry from her usual pushy demeanor.
Hearing that shift, Lillian felt nothing but disgust.
Ever since she had been bonded to Julian, not once had any of them ever admitted fault to her.
And now this…
“Luna Eleanor, that’s really pathetic of you to say,” Lillian said flatly.
Just a short while ago, Eleanor had told her to get out of Graves Pack if she knew what was good for her. How quickly things changed.
Eleanor bit back her anger. “Where is the pup?”
“Why do you automatically assume I took her?”
At Lillian’s sarcasm, Eleanor’s patience snapped. “Who else could it be? After everything you’ve pulled these past few days aren’t

you just trying to push Iris over the edge?”
Her last words came out almost as a shout.
Lillian had indeed been making moves lately, each one aimed squarely at Iris.
One blow after another–enough to crush anyone.
Lillian tightened her grip on the phone. “I don’t care whether she lives or dies.”

Then she added coldly, “Let me make something clear. I own everything that’s happened recently. But I didn’t touch that pup.
“If you want her to live, stop pointing fingers at me and go look elsewhere. If she dies while you’re busy blaming me, don’t come crying to me later.”
So the pup was missing, and they came straight to her?
If she really had taken the girl, wouldn’t she be using her as leverage against Julian by now?
But Lillian wasn’t that low.
No matter how much she despised Iris‘ pup, she would never harm a pup.
Or steal one and hide it.
Did they really think snatching a pup was that easy?
Pups were the hardest to care for. She wasn’t insane–why would she steal the most high–maintenance thing imaginable just to
blackmail Julian?
Lillian hung up again.
Almost immediately, her phone buzzed–Chloe this time.
“Chloe,” Lillian answered.
“Iris‘ pup is missing. Did you hear?”
Lillian went silent for a beat. Chloe already knew?
The whole world outside Laurel Manor must be in chaos by now.
“I know,” Lillian said. “Julian rushed out earlier. He looked. In a real hurry.”
In the past, no matter how urgent things were, if he absolutely had to leave, he’d drag Lillian along.
But today, he hadn’t.
He really must have been in a panic.
“How did you find out?” Lillian asked.
“My aunt,” Chloe replied. “She was at the hospital today. The place is in complete turmoil.”
