“Good,” Chloe said, relief faint in her tone. “Because I was honestly worried. If you had taken that pup to force Julian’s hand, it would’ve been like stepping on his last nerve.”
No matter how well Julian had treated Lillian over the years, if pushed too far–if he truly lost control–she would suffer for it too.
Sure, she had a brother like Edmund.
But she was in Gilneas City now.
if she were back on the Western Continent, she could’ve done anything and Julian might not reach her.

Third–Person POV:
Lillian could hear the concern in Chloe’s tone but brushed it off. “Whatever. It’s not like I’m scared of him.”

Chloe replied, “I know you’re not–you’re still the Langley Pack’s little princess. But you haven’t returned home yet. Let’s not make an already messy situation worse.”
The priority was clear: break the mating bond with Julian first, then head back to the Western Continent as soon as possible.
At the words “messy situation“, Lillian shrugged. “Got it.”
That jerk just wouldn’t agree to sever the bond, no matter what she said.
“So is the Graves Pack blaming you for the missing pup now?”
“You know it,” Lillian answered. “They already are.”
Both tris and Eleanor had called, demanding she return the pup–as if she were some kind of monster who snacked on newborns.
Chloe drew a sharp breath over the line, the sound unmistakable.
“So even if you didn’t do it, everyone’s decided it was you?”
“Pretty much,” Lillian said. “So what’s the difference?”
“None,” Chloe admitted. “Here we go again—more drama.”
By now, everyone in the Graves Pack was convinced Lillian had taken the pup. Julian would probably think the same–that she’d go to any length to break their bond.
Things were definitely about to spiral out of control.
“Alright, alright, enough of that,” Lillian cut in. “I’m getting out of Laurel Manor first.”
Now that Julian was finally gone, her top priority was to leave this place behind,
She ended the call with Chloe and immediately dialed George. He picked up on the first ring. “Miss.”
“Come get me. Now”
Lillian stood by the window, looking out. Julian might have left, but he’d posted plenty of guards around clearly he didn’t want her stepping off pack territory
“Understood,” George responded,
Every extra minute spent on Julian’s turf made her skin crawl. All she wanted was to put as much distance between them as possible.
At the hospital, Julian headed straight for the security office. Eleanor and Iris followed close behind.

Hospital staff had been reviewing surveillance footage since the pup was reported missing, with the director and other responsible parties gathered in the room.
But hospitals were crowded, and spotting anything suspicious wasn’t easy.
Iris was sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath.
The security room was filled with doctors, nurses, and staff–all tense under Julian’s presence.
His voice was icy. “What time did the pup go missing?”
The nanny assigned to the pup flinched, too scared to answer.
When no one spoke up, Julian turned his gaze toward the woman in pink scrubs. The intensity in his eyes made her collapse to the floor.
“The pup… it was… around noon?”
“Noon?” Julian repeated, his tone dangerous.
“Y–yes…” She nodded, trembling.
Hearing “noon” sent a wave of fury through Julian. “If it happened at noon, why are we only finding out now?”
Iris broke down again, kicking the nanny weakly. “She’s right–why didn’t you tell us? We paid you to take care of her! How could you be so irresponsible?”
Eleanor joined in, her voice sharp. “Noon. She’s been missing since noon. Do you realize how many hours have passed? If anything happens to that pup, you’ll pay for it too. You might as well be dead.”
The nanny shook uncontrollably. “At first I thought a nurse took her for a bath… then I assumed it was for a shot. I… I…”
In short, she hadn’t considered the possibility that the pup was truly missing. After all, this was a Graves Pack pup–who would dare steal from them?
So she’d thought the nurses were watching the infant and had slipped away for a short break. Caring for the newborn these past lew days had exhausted her She only meant to rest a little but ended up falling asleep
By the time she realized what happened, it was already past five in the evening
Tears streamed down the nanny’s face. “I’m sorry I’m so sorry.”
Iris: Inis!”
