Chapter 161 The Deal
Third–Person POV:
If everything Julian had accused her of before was based on lies, Lillian thought, this time he was dead serious.
After all, it was about Iris‘ pup.
When Julian heard Lillian’s question, his expression turned to ice. “So you really took the pup?”
Was that a confession?
Lillian didn’t care what he thought anymore–she was past that.
For the last six months, the Graves Pack had dragged her name through the mud anyway. Nothing mattered now.
She met his gaze squarely. “Do you mean it?”
Seeing the resolve in Lillian’s eyes, Julian’s breathing grew ragged.
It was her. She really had taken the pup.
Lillian watched his eyes darken with rage.
She clenched her jaw. “Well? Do you?”
“Fine. Yes. Now will you return the pup?”
Every word sounded grated, forced through his teeth.
How dare she?
To force him to break their mate bond, she’d sink this low. That pup wasn’t even a month old.
What kind of person…
For a moment, Julian looked at her with utter disappointment–the kind that said he’d never truly known her at all.
Before Lillian could respond, he spoke again, voice thick with disgust. “You’re not just cruel. You’re something else entirely.”
“Am I cruel?” Lillian murmured.
The Graves Pack had done everything, yet she was the one labeled cruel.
Was Julian really that blind, or were the Graves just that good at twisting the truth?
Whatever.
It didn’t matter anymore. If being called “cruel” was the price to break this bond, so be it.
“Have someone bring the pup back now,” Julian demanded.
“What do you mean, ‘bring it back‘? I’ll find it for you, how’s that?”

“You-” Julian started, but Lillian cut him off.
“Listen–no matter how the pup went missing, if I hand it to you myself, we break the bond. Right?”
She stared him down, not backing down.
“Right?”
Worried he might backtrack, she pressed harder.
Julian pressed his lips into a thin line, his gaze locked on hers. “Didn’t you just admit you took it? Why would you need to ‘find‘ it now?”
“I bring you the pup, we break the bond. That’s the deal, yes?”
She avoided his question, focusing only on his promise.
His face grew colder, if that was possible.
After a tense silence, he finally bit out, “Fine.”
“Good. You said it. I recorded everything.”
Lillian tapped her phone screen–she’d captured their entire conversation.
“Remember, if you go back on your word, I’ll release this recording.
“Your pack doesn’t have much reputation left to lose, but I’ll gladly help ruin what’s left. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
While speaking, she dialed George.
He picked up immediately.
Before he could say a word, Lillian instructed, “Find the pup, keep it somewhere safe, and send me proof.”
If she actually located the pup, she wasn’t just handing it over–not until the bond was broken.
No matter what, she was ending this.
Julian’s face flushed with anger.
As she hung up, he growled, “Who was that? Finn?”
Lillian almost scoffed. Finn again?
Just then–her phone rang. Finn’s name flashed on the screen. She answered, “Finn.”
The moment Julian heard that name, the rage around him became palpable.
Finn’s voice came through, steady and concerned. “Iris‘ pup is missing. Have you heard?”
Lillian asked quietly, “Do you think I took it, too?”
Chloe had already hinted over the phone that she suspected Lillian was involved

Yes, she hated Iris. And yes, she couldn’t stand the sight of Iris‘ pup.
But she would never harm a pup.

These past few days, she’d had her brother Edmund take care of Margaret, which had shaken Iris–but hurting a pup? Never.
“You wouldn’t,” Finn said without hesitation.
His immediate trust made Lillian’s chest ache.
