Chapter 186 The Termination Agreement
Third–Person POV:
Wendy let out a slow breath. “Give me a month to wrap things up. That’s reasonable.”

Honestly, she worked here–she wasn’t anyone’s servant. They might not like hearing the truth, but she wasn’t going to lie just to keep them happy. You couldn’t please everyone.
Eleanor’s tone was ice–cold. “That won’t be necessary. You can leave now.”
“But I have a contract,” Wendy pointed out, keeping her voice level. “If I walk out without a proper handover, they’ll dock my final pay. That’s standard policy.”
“Consider yourself fired,” Hilda cut in, her temper flaring.
Wendy didn’t back down. “On what grounds?”
“Do I need a reason? Look at your attitude!” Hilda snapped.
“Nobody told me my job description included kissing up to the Alpha’s family,” Wendy replied flatly.
That left both Eleanor and Hilda speechless. Their expressions darkened further. Really, what were they doing, arguing with an assistant like this? It felt beneath them.
Eleanor, impatient to see Julian, tried to push past, but Wendy held her ground.
As for being fired, Wendy insisted that only her direct supervisor could make that call, and they’d have to process her severance before she’d go anywhere.
That only fueled Eleanor’s anger. For a second, it felt like she was seeing a ghost–there was the same stubborn defiance in Wendy that she’d always hated in Lillian.
Frustrated and out of options, Eleanor ended up waiting outside Julian’s office until well past six in the evening.
Julian had been in back–to–back meetings for hours. When he finally stepped out of the conference room, he looked completely drained.
Eleanor rushed toward him. The moment Julian spotted her and Hilda, his expression turned even stonier.
“What are you two doing here?” he asked, his voice low.
Right now, Julian was sick of the sight of anyone from the Graves Pack–even his own mother and sister.
“Never mind that,” Eleanor said sharply. “Fire this woman for me. Now.”
Still furious over how Wendy had spoken to her, Eleanor jabbed a finger in the assistant’s direction.
Thomas, who’d been trailing Julian, overheard the word “fire” and immediately glanced at Wendy, his eyes silently asking what she’d done this time.
Wendy adjusted her black–framed glasses. “If refusing to suck up is a fireable offense, then the company owes me severance pay.”

“Enough,” Thomas muttered under his breath. Seriously? It was one thing to be driven at work, but did she have to bring that same attitude when dealing with the Alpha’s mother?
He’d hired Wendy because he liked her spirit–she tackled everything head–on. But she needed to learn where to direct that energy.
Thomas offered Eleanor an apologetic smile. “Luna Eleanor, please excuse her. Wendy’s always been… straightforward. Let’s not escalate this.”
Eleanor only scoffed. Hilda, too, looked thoroughly offended.
Julian’s gaze swept over Wendy briefly. He didn’t comment, instead turning to head into his office.
Eleanor shot Wendy one last glare before following him inside. Hilda trailed behind, throwing a nasty look Wendy’s way before the door shut.
The moment they were alone, Thomas let out a tired sigh and rubbed his forehead. “Did you really have to make enemies out of both of them at once?”
Having worked for Julian for years, Thomas knew exactly how difficult Eleanor and Hilda could be.
Wendy handed him a folded document. “Termination papers.”
“What?” Thomas flinched at the words.
“Luna sent someone over with them,” Wendy said, and for once, her tone carried a hint of deference when she said Luna.
Thomas‘ stomach sank. So she was serious this time.
Back in the office, Julian lit a cigarette and took a long drag.
Hilda, trying to sound measured but failing, spoke up. “Julian, she hit Mom. One of Iris‘ pups didn’t make it. How can you just let her walk away from this?”
“You already called the police, didn’t you?” Julian’s voice was disturbingly calm. “Did I try to stop you?”
Neither Hilda nor Eleanor had a response. His quiet tone somehow felt more threatening than shouting.
Just as Eleanor opened her mouth to speak, a knock sounded at the door.
Thomas‘ voice came through. “Alpha, it’s me.”
“Come in.”
Thomas entered, walked straight to Julian’s desk, and placed the document in front of him. “Alpha, this was delivered earlier… from Luna’s people.”
He didn’t specify what it was, but the moment it hit the desk, the bold heading was unmistakable: Termination of Mate Bond Agreement.
So they’d been right.
Thomas withdrew quietly, leaving the three of them alone.
