The call was picked up almost instantly on the other end.

Lillian’s voice drifted through the speaker.

It was gentle… surprisingly so. Even though she spoke only a single word, there was a softness to her tone that hadn’t been there before. But that gentle sound hit Julian’s chest like a needle dipped in venom, sharp and searing.

Julian swallowed hard, his throat feeling dry. “Where are you?”

On her end, Lillian’s eyes were glacial, devoid of any warmth.

Yet, the moment she spoke, her voice remained sickeningly sweet. “What do you want?”

“Tell me. What kind of game are you playing now?”

Julian’s voice was tight, strained as he fought to keep his composure. His gut told him Lillian was on the verge of unleashing chaos again.

But this time felt different.

Before, when she made her moves, her emotions were wild and raw, wearing her madness on her sleeve. That kind of instability made it easy to predict she was up to no good.

Listening to the strain vibrating in Julian’s voice, Lillian asked, “Game?”

“Stop causing trouble!” Julian bit out, the words grinding through his teeth.

“Trouble?” Lillian echoed innocently. “Wasn’t it you who said you didn’t want to break the mate

bond?”

Hearing Julian’s sharp intake of breath over the phone, a dangerous softness curled the corner of Lillian’s lips.

She practically spat the word “nervous“, dripping with pure mockery.

How could people with hearts as cold as the members of the Graves Pack ever feel nervous? It was laughable! People who had committed the sins they had must know, deep down, the weight of their dirty deeds. The slightest shift in the wind, and they started squirming like

worms.

“I just want to know what you’re really planning,” Julian snapped.

“If it makes you this nervous, then let’s just break the bond. Okay?”

Hearing Lillian toss out “break the bond” with such casual disregard sent Julian’s emons reeling even harder.
