Lillian was dressed in an exquisite, custom–designed evening gown, her hand resting lightly on Finn’s arm as they entered.
The sight instantly made Hilda’s blood boil.
Her best friend, Bella, noticed it too and stiffened. “I thought you said you and Finn were in bonding talks,” she whispered, leaning closer. “So why is he here with your brother’s mate? And the two of them looking so…”
She trailed off.
”
Hilda’s expression had already darkened into a stormy glare.
Her eyes were fixed on Lillian’s hand tucked into the crook of Finn’s arm–she wished she could turn her own gaze into a blade and slice that hand right off.
“That damned Lillian,” Hilda muttered under her breath. “She hasn’t even formally broken the bond with Julian yet, and already she’s sniffing around someone else.”
And of all people, it had to be Finn.
That woman was doing this on purpose.
She knew perfectly well that Hilda was deep in bonding negotiations with Finn. This was nothing but a blatant provocation.
Bella caught the venom in Hilda’s eyes and nudged her. “Aren’t you going to say something?
“Finn is practically your future mate at this point, isn’t he?”
Even if things were still in the discussion phase.
Both of them came from two of the most powerful packs in Gilneas City. A bond between them would be considered an ideal match.
Even if no official announcement had been made yet.
As far as Bella was concerned, it was only a matter of time before Hilda became the Luna of the Livingston Pack.

So calling her Finn’s future mate wasn’t much of a stretch.
But…
Hearing Bella say that, Hilda clenched her jaw so tight her teeth ached.

If she had the nerve, she would’ve marched over and slapped Lillian twice across the face.
But one look at that sharply dressed man beside her–all cold, intimidating authority- stopped her dead.
Finn was devastatingly handsome. Even with that icy demeanor, Hilda was utterly captivated by him.
Which was exactly why seeing him like this with Lillian made her chest hurt so badly she could hardly breathe.
She drew a slow, steadying breath and said to Bella, “I’m not his future mate yet. Once the Livingston Pack gives their official blessing and I’m formally recognized as Finn’s intended, then I’ll deal with her.”
“Her” meant Lillian.
She wouldn’t make a move until she had the standing to do it properly.
Bella shook her head in disgust. “What kind of woman did your brother Julian end un bonded to? She’s got a catch like him and still can’t keep her act together.”
Her voice dripped with resentment.
She… had always carried a torch for Julian.
Back when she’d learned Julian was bonding with Lillian, she’d been miserable for weeks, barely eating a thing.
Now, seeing Lillian treat him like he was nothing, she wanted to slap her, too.
But with Finn standing right there, she didn’t dare.
“Julian really has terrible taste,” Bella added bitterly, “How could he settle for an Omega like
that?”
When Julian arrived, he spotted Finn leading Lillian by the hand toward the very front row, They took their seats side by side, right in the center.

Eleanor saw them, too, and her anger sparked instantly. “She hasn’t even broken the bond with you, and already she’s clinging to Finn?”
She was doing this deliberately, wasn’t she?
She knew Hilda and Finn were in bonding talks, and still she pulled a stunt like this?
Had the Graves Pack been too lenient with her all this time?
Julian’s hands balled into fists at his sides. He took a step forward, but Eleanor caught his arm. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Julian glanced at her, eyes blazing.
He didn’t need to say a word.
Eleanor knew exactly what he was thinking. “The blue diamond is up for auction tonight. Half the high–society packs are here. Don’t cause a scene.”
As much as she wanted to tear into Lillian right then and there, she refused to give anyone more reason to laugh at them.
The Graves Pack’s reputation had taken enough blows lately.
Across the venue, George took a call from Edmund.
“Alpha, everything’s set for the auction,” George reported quietly. “Miss Moore and Alpha Finn will leave as soon as they secure the blue diamond. For the remaining lots, I’ve arranged for our people to stay and keep bidding up.”
The Graves Pack wouldn’t be walking away with a single thing tonight.
Not even the smallest trinket would go their way.
Edmund’s voice came through, calm but firm. “She mentioned moving into the Graves Pack temporarily. Do you have people prepared for that?”
“All arranged. Even if she stays under their roof, our people will be the ones seeing to her
needs.”
“Good.”
Edmund was simply a brother who wanted his sister happy–whatever it took.
