Chapter 215 Seeking the Livingston Elders

Mrs. Clarke had always been Eleanor’s biggest rival in their social circle.

Her husband was a major real estate developer, and whenever Eleanor showed up with a new piece of jewelry, Mrs. Clarke made it her mission to outdo her.
That was why the way Lillian openly challenged Eleanor today had been such entertaining drama for her to watch.
After Julian and Finn left the auction, things only got more intense. Every time Eleanor placed a bid, Mrs. Clarke drove the price even higher.
By now, she wasn’t even pretending to be polite–she spoke bluntly, holding nothing back.
Eleanor’s face had already gone pale with anger, but hearing Mrs. Clarke’s remarks turned it a shade of purple. She shot her a sharp look but refused to make a scene in front of so many people.
Eleanor had come today with two goals: to purchase something special for Iris, and to restore some of the Graves Pack’s recently damaged reputation.
No matter how much chaos was unfolding within their household, the Graves name still carried weight. Who would dare mock them openly?
But then Lillian had to ruin everything. The very first item–the blue diamond–had slipped from her grasp, and from that moment on, nothing went right.
“Mrs. Clarke, Eleanor replied coolly, “it’s not as though you walked away with anything remarkable today either.”
Anything remarkable–in truth, Mrs. Clarke hadn’t even managed to pick up the leftovers.
Mrs. Clarke let out a dry laugh. “Oh, I don’t mind losing bids. What you should really worry about is keeping your daughter–in–law Lillian in line.
“With both of your daughters–in–law causing trouble, it must be so diflicult being the mother- in–law,” she added, her tone dripping with false sympathy.
What she really meant, of course, was that Eleanor didn’t know how to manage her own family.

“You ought to learn from Mrs. Green. She has five daughters–in–law, and they all get along perfectly.”
Hearing that, Eleanor’s expression darkened further.
It was a direct insult to her capability as a matriarch.
Rage pulsed behind her temples, but before she could retort, Mrs. Clarke turned away with a satisfied smile and walked off.
The cheerful lilt in her laughter made it clear she’d enjoyed every minute of the spectacle.
Eleanor fumed quietly once they were alone. “What does she have to be so proud of? Her husband is still keeping a mistress on the side. And she has the nerve to criticize me.”
Hilda, who had stayed close to Eleanor throughout, was also seething. “What a waste of time coming to this auction,” she muttered bitterly.
She’d hoped to win something she truly liked, but Lillian had taken it all.
Even the pink diamond that came up later was secured by Finn’s representatives.
The way Finn had publicly shielded Lillian during the auction told her everything–that diamond was destined for Lillian’s hands.
Once they were inside the car, Hilda finally exploded. “What is going on with Mrs. Blake? Wasn’t she supposed to be arranging the bonding talks between me and Finn? Why haven’t we heard anything back?”
The memory of Finn protecting Lillian today burned in her mind.
That blue diamond was worth a fortune–Lillian casually bid two hundred million, and Finn just told the entire room to back off?
He was supposed to be her intended mate.
What was all this with Lillian?
Eleanor was equally furious. Just yesterday, she’d promised Iris she would bring back the blue diamond from the auction as a reward.
Now, not only did she not have the diamond–she didn’t have anything to show for the day at all.
“Last time I tried to bring him lunch, he had me escorted out. He made it very clear nothing

was going to happen between us,” Hilda vented, growing angrier with each word.
“I don’t understand what the elders of the Livingston Pack are thinking.”

She had lowered her pride again and again for Finn, yet he never gave her a second glance.
Eleanor massaged her throbbing temples. “You can’t force these things with someone like Finn.”
But the truth was, the whole situation was driving her mad. Problem after problem kept piling
“Does Mrs. Blake even have any real influence to make the bonding happen?” Hilda pressed. “I can’t wait to slap that smirk off Lillian’s face.”
With Lillian clinging to Finn the way she was, Hilda had no formal standing to intervene, and it infuriated her.
“What’s even stranger,” Eleanor said slowly, “is how the Livingston Pack elders are handling this. Do they really not know about Finn and Lillian? Why haven’t they stepped in?”
Lately, Finn’s protection of Lillian had been too visible, too deliberate.
By now, word must have reached the Livingston elders.
What elder would want someone of Finn’s standing entangled with an Omega like Lillian?
The Livingston Pack elders were not known for being passive–if they intended to stop it, they would have acted already.
So why was nothing happening?
“You’re right,” Hilda agreed, frustration mounting. “What are the Livingston elders thinking? Mom, maybe we should go to them directly.”
