Damn, she was just a maid–how did she get eyes that terrifying?

Nearby, Eleanor watched her daughter being manhandled by a servant and screamed in rage, “You bitch! I’ll kill you!”
She rushed toward the maid who had struck Hilda, but before she could land a hit, the Draenei woman caught her by the throat and squeezed.
Eleanor choked, “Ugh…”
Instantly, the air was crushed from her lungs. She flailed and kicked, her face purpling, her struggles growing weaker by the second.
Seeing this, Hilda tried to scramble up and help, but the moment she moved, a boot came down hard on the back of her hand. She cried out in pain.
A single Draenei maid had both Hilda and Eleanor completely pinned.
Another servant brought over a glass of freshly squeezed juice. “Miss, your juice. Dinner will still be a moment.”
Lillian hummed in acknowledgement, accepted the glass, and took a slow, casual sip.
Eleanor was fading fast.
Hilda watched her mother’s face turn darker and screamed at Lillian, “Lillian, you immoral— ah!”
She’d meant to curse, but the boot on her hand pressed down harder–so hard she felt the bones might snap.
For the first time in years of living in privilege and throwing their weight around, Eleanor and Hilda were utterly powerless.
Hilda trembled from the pain.
Eleanor’s face was ghostly pale now, and Hilda–who’d never bowed to anyone in her life–felt the fight drain out of her.

The hatred in her eyes as she glared at Lillian began to dissolve.
Finally, she gave in.

She looked at Lillian’s back and spoke, straining to keep the fury from her voice. “Tell her to let go… or Mom won’t make it.”
Hilda, closer to Eleanor than anyone, could see clearly–her mother couldn’t hold on much longer.
Lillian set her juice down, glanced back over her shoulder, and said lightly, “Are you asking me for a favor?”
Hilda stayed silent.
Ask her?
No way in hell. Why would she beg that piece of trash–who did Lillian think she was?
Just because she was using Finn’s influence to throw her weight around the Graves Pack?
If that was the game, then fine–Lillian had won.
Hilda had always looked down on her. Begging Lillian ever do.

But then Eleanor’s struggles grew feeble, her breathing shallow, and Hilda gritted her teeth so hard she tasted blood.
Meeting Lillian’s amused eyes, she finally nodded. “Fine. I’m aski

this is on you. The Graves Pack is my home, after all. How could you try to keep me from coming home? What kind of nonsense is that?”
Hilda said nothing.
Eleanor, barely conscious, could only glare weakly.
Home?
Hearing Lillian call it that made their blood boil. But Hilda didn’t dare curse anymore, Eleanor had no strength left. Their lives were literally in Lillian’s hands.

:
Was she really treating the Graves Pack like home now?
She was stepping over their necks to get back inside.

Back when Julian had first bound himself to her, Eleanor had said it: this woman was only after the Graves Pack’s wealth.
So what was this now? They’d agreed to end the bond.
Did she suddenly want back in–enough to force her way like this?
Eleanor was seething, but she was face–to–face with the same kind of ruthless tactics she’d once used on others–and now she had no way to fight back.
“Please,” Hilda forced out, her head lowered. “Tell her to let go.”
This time, she fully surrendered. Her mother’s life was on the line.
Before, she’d never have believed Lillian capable of something like this.
But lately, Lillian had become unpredictable–like a madwoman. Cross her, and you were as good as dead.
Faced with Hilda’s reluctant plea, Lillian took her time. “Do you really mean it?”
Hilda stayed silent. That bitch!
She’d already begged. What else did Lillian want–for her to get on her knees?
Did she even deserve that?
When Hilda didn’t answer, Lillian’s smile softened further. “I guess you don’t really mean it?”
Hilda was about to lose it.
