Eleanor’s mind was already boiling with rage, and Julian’s words pushed her completely over the edge.
“You’re saying she isn’t so bad? Julian, what are you even talking about? What about everything that happened with the recent house fire?”
Julian fell silent.
“If she weren’t that bad, would she have set that fire? If she weren’t that bad, would she have gone after your own brother’s daughter?”
The thought of her granddaughter sent Eleanor spiraling further out of control. This time, she didn’t give Julian a chance to reply before charging ahead.
“Why hasn’t she been arrested yet? She kidnapped a pup and caused its death. Why does she still have the freedom to come cause trouble at the Graves Pack?”
She had assumed Lillian’s days outside were numbered–that was why she’d been pushing so hard to cut ties.
But now?
The alliance was still intact, and Lillian was nowhere near a jail cell.
What was the point of any of it?
The longer Eleanor stewed, the hotter her anger burned.
Julian stayed quiet on the other end.
“I don’t care what you have going on. Come home right now. Get her out of here. Have her locked up where she belongs.”
By now, Eleanor had lost all composure.
She wanted Lillian behind bars–that was all that mattered.
It was clear to her now: only with that woman in custody would they finally have peace.
“I’ll try to make it back this afternoon,” Julian said.

She had just told him Lillian nearly killed her, and he still wouldn’t come until afternoon?
He was just…
All at once, Eleanor felt this son of hers didn’t even feel like her own. If he were, how could he take his mother’s life so lightly?
And claiming Lillian wasn’t so terrible? He…
She wanted to say more, but Julian ended the call.
In his view, whenever Eleanor and Lillian clashed, Eleanor usually came out on top anyway.
Eleanor walked back inside.
The bruising around her neck was unmistakable. When Iris saw it, she gasped, “Eleanor, your neck–what happened?”
“Don’t ask, Iris. It was Lillian’s people. She’s completely lost it now.”
“No matter how unhinged she is, she can’t treat you like this, can she?”
“That’s what I said. Do what you want to me, but to Mom…” Hilda couldn’t even finish.
Then she remembered her grandmother’s belongings being tossed out, and the fury inside her burned white–hot.
“Listen, you need to focus on Finn. The only reason she can pull any of this is because Finn’s backing her,” Iris pointed out.
Hilda and Eleanor exchanged a glance.
It was clear they both agreed.
In their eyes, what power could an Omega raised in a group home possibly have?
The only reason Lillian strutted around the Graves Pack like she owned the place was Finn’s
support.

Eleanor gritted her teeth. “Iris is right. You need to get serious about Finn.”
For a moment, Eleanor forgot all about being shut out at the Livingston Pack.
Or maybe it just didn’t seem to matter anymore.
If Hilda could win Finn over, Lillian would lose her main pillar of support.
And without that backing, how much trouble could she really cause?
Hilda sighed in frustration. “It’s not like it’s entirely up to me.”
Did she want to get serious about Finn?
Of course she did. She just couldn’t seem to make any headway.

Remembering how Finn had publicly humiliated her at Livingston Group made her blood
boil.
He’d trampled all over her pride in front of everyone.
Seeing Hilda so defeated only irritated Eleanor more.
Before she could speak, Iris cut in. “I’ve told you before–Alphas are drawn to gentle Omegas.
“The way you handled those Livingston Pack members at the group, with Finn watching the whole thing… Of course he’d take issue with you after that.”
Hilda threw up her hands. “So what am I supposed to do now?”
Finn already disliked her.
Her only real hope now lay with the Livingston Pack elders.
But they still hadn’t given her any response.
