Eleanor huffed, “What the hell are you trying to say? Are you telling me I was in the wrong back then too?”
Julian snubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and got to his feet. He took a quick look at Eleanor. Without saying a word, he just turned around and headed upstairs.
Once everyone had left, Lillian’s pack members went back to what they were doing. But the kitchen was still blocked off by Lillian’s guys. The Graves Pack staff couldn’t even get in.
Eleanor was fuming mad. “What the hell does he mean by that?”
Hilda shrugged. “Julian’s just looking out for her
Eleanor scowled, “Still protecting her after all this? That bitch-”
The moment the word “bitch” slipped out, the two pack members in the kitchen shot cold looks at Eleanor. Those looks were a clear warning.
Eleanor swallowed whatever she was about to say next. Then, all worked up, she said, “Does Julian really not give a damn that she’s getting cozy with Finn right now?”
Not saying anything about Finn was one thing. But at the mention of Finn, Hilda’s face turned dark too.
Finn was supposed to be hers. That bitch Lillian knew full well that she and Finn were being considered for a match, and she still got so close to him. She was doing it on purpose.
Tilda hadn’t even dared to meet up with her friends in the past few days. It was just too
barrassing. Her potential mate was getting involved with her own brother’s mate. What a
ss!
Iris walked over and said, “Let’s go to my room.”
Right then, the place was full of Lillian’s people. If they talked too openly, it’d definitely get back to her.
Eleanor was really ticked off. Nothing had gone their way, and Julian was still protecting Lillian like she was the most precious thing in the world.
As soon as they got into Iris‘ room, Eleanor grumbled, “What’s wrong with the cops? Why haven’t they arrested her yet?”

When Eleanor brought up the cops arresting Lillian, a quick flash of something crossed Iris‘ lowered eyes. She said softly, “Eleanor, I want Edith to come and take care of me.”
Edith was one of Margaret’s pack members. Iris hadn’t brought her back when she got out of the hospital because she was worried Eleanor might have a problem with it. Eleanor had said something like, “What, the Graves Pack doesn’t have enough people to look after you?”
But now, with Lillian moving back into the estate like this, and not knowing how the police investigation was going, she needed Edith by her side to feel safe.
Eleanor’s heart sank when she heard that. She wasn’t happy about it. But then she thought about how bad things had gotten in the Graves Pack. In the end, she nodded and said, “Have Edith come. And bring all the rest of Margaret’s people too.”
Was Lillian the only one who could call in backup? Iris had her own family’s people too. Did Lillian think she was the only one who could cause trouble? Fine. Let everyone play that game.
Hearing that, Iris smiled. “Okay. I’ll have Edith come, and I’ll tell her to bring the others. My mom’s not around right now anyway.”
Eleanor just grunted and gave a little nod.
a and said, “You really need to step up your game with Finn.”
iris dropped that bombshell. Eleanor looked at Hilda too. Hilda tensed up. ked eyes with Eleanor, there was defiance in her gaze.
eaways been a proud girl. She’d never been treated so coldly before. She liked Finn and wanted to be with him. But after all the times she’d humiliated herself trying to get close to him, only to have him brush her off, she didn’t want to put herself through that again.
Eleanor said, “Iris is right. You need to figure something out with Finn.”
It wasn’t just about stepping up her game. Right now, they didn’t even know where the Livingston Pack elders stood on this whole thing And Finn was as cold as ice towards Hilda.
Hilda said, “What am I supposed to do? Finn already told me there’s no chance for us.”
Eleanor asked, “He actually said that to you?”
“Yeah. What can I do?”
At that, Hilda broke down in tears. “This is all Lillian’s fault. That bitch is seducing him.”
