“Why even bother considering her feelings?” Hilda snapped, her voice sharp with irritation. “She’s the one who started all of this.”
She let out a frustrated breath, crossing her arms tightly.
“Look at what she’s done to the whole pack–and my properties…” Hilda didn’t know the exact number of holdings the Graves Pack had lost altogether, but just thinking about the ones under her name, all gone, made her feel physically ill.
So much real estate–vanished, just like that.
Lillian acted as if none of those homes had ever meant anything, as if she couldn’t care less.
“Let’s head to Laurel Manor first,” Hilda said, venom dripping from her words. “Julian gave it to her, and we couldn’t claim it before. This time, we’re taking it for good.”
Out of all the properties they’d seized from Lillian, Laurel Manor was the one Hilda truly loved. The grounds were stunning, and the location was prime.
Iris had always loved Laurel Manor, too.
But whenever she’d tried to casually bring it up with Julian, he’d play dumb, brushing her off every time.
Now Lillian was the one refusing to go back there. So really, they couldn’t blame anyone else.
At this point, both Hilda and Iris were already acting as though Laurel Manor belonged to them. They waited, hearts full of anticipation, for good news.
What returned, however, was Eleanor–her face dark and stormy with rage.
The moment Hilda and Iris saw her walk in, their expressions brightened briefly. But the look on Eleanor’s face made them freeze.
“Well?” Hilda pressed, unable to wait. “What did Julian say? Did he agree?”
That was what mattered most, wasn’t it? Julian’s decision?
Eleanor’s gaze shifted from Hilda to Iris. The sheer anger in her eyes, so intense she seemed unable to speak, made both women’s hearts leap into their throats.
What did that silence mean?

Had she failed?
The hopeful looks slid right off their faces.
Seeing Eleanor still speechless, Hilda tried again voice tense. “Did he say no?”

“What’s his problem? After everything that went down today, it’s obvious we can’t keep living under the same roof.”
After all the drama, Julian still wouldn’t let them live separately?
“The way Lillian is acting now–who could possibly stand being around her?” Hilda’s annoyance was plain.
Just the thought that Julian might have refused made her sick.
What did he mean, no? Was it because he’d designed Laurel Manor for Lillian himself?
Fine, then why didn’t he just take Lillian back there? What was she still doing here? Couldn’t he see she was driving the whole pack crazy?
Iris frowned, studying Eleanor closely. “Eleanor, what exactly did Julian tell you?”
peshe really think we enjoy taking Lillian’s things?” Hilda cut in, her voice sour. “If the any other decent property right now, you couldn’t pay me to set foot in
man had refused, Hilda’s expression turned downright bitter.
iris didnt took pleased either.
When Eleanor first suggested moving to Laurel Manor, Iris had felt a wave of relief–finally, an escape from Lillian.
But now this useless old woman couldn’t even secure one property, after promising she would.
Iris lowered her eyes, pretending to wipe away a tear. “The Hayes Pack estate is ruined because of her, too, and my mother hasn’t even complained. And here I am, still unable to rest and recover properly.”
Eleanor finally spoke, her voice strained, “Laurel Manor is gone.”
She was growing tired of Iris‘ constant crying. Every time something went wrong, all Iris knew how to do was turn on the tears.
Maybe Iris didn’t mean to make things harder, but right now, Eleanor was barely holding it

Having an Omega daughter–in–law walk all over her like this was humiliating.
But she couldn’t take the whining anymore, so she just said it outright.
That one sentence plunged the room into dead silence.

Hilda and Iris stared at her, disbelief written all over their faces. They couldn’t process what they’d just heard.
Hilda found her voice first. “Mom, what did you say?”
Laurel Manor was gone.
Gone?
Did that mean what she thought it meant? Had Lillian burned down Laurel Manor, too?
That menace.
Right then, Hilda felt a wave of dizziness–pure rage threatening to pull her under.
Iris‘ face went completely dark. “Laurel Manor was burned down, too?”
Manor.

tion, the natural energy that flowed through it… Everyone in Gilneas City had wanted a piece of it.
And now Lillian had destroyed it all?
Eleanor nodded stiffly. “Yes. She cut off our last way out.”
She didn’t want to believe it.
